Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

Talk about disappointment. That's the best word I can use to describe Kill Bill Vol 2. :(

It wasn't that it was bad, but Vol 1 was so much better in my opinion. I think they could have done a bit more with Madsen's character, and the end fight with Bill was rather anti-climatic, even though the final blow was pretty cool (in reality and in meaning).

And yes, GLM, the Hannah/Thurman fight was pretty cool.

Related note: could Daryl Hannah look more like a man? Wow she's hideous.

I kind of thought that would be your reaction - after all the sh-t that goes down in Part One, Part Two is always a let down.

I know they couldn't flesh out all the assassins like they did with Ishii, but they didn't have to just gloss over Elle and Budd. I mean, why were they "higher up" on The Bride's list? Budd I get, I suppose, as he's related to Bill, but Elle? What's the reason? Same with Green. Why was she so low on the list?

I guess I was hoping for a little more balance of the backgrounds of the characters. Vol 2 just seemed to want to get to the end as quick as possible.

And I was disappointed that Budd didn't get his due from The Bride herself. You could see his ending a mile away, which in this case was a big letdown.

Watched Taken this weekend. Impressed with it until the end, where it just sort of stopped.

Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

So G-Force was the top movie this past weekend.

Yeah...

Remember, this is the same country where "Meet The Spartans" brought $38 million during its theater run.

I'm much less disappointed about G-Force being a number one movie, given its family-oriented subject matter (sorta).

Lest we forget Kangaroo Jack.

Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

My mind started rambling today, and I thought of a few "signature traits" that some actors have in every movie. Any others you guys can think of, similar to these?

The most obvious is The Al Pacino Yell. At one point in just about all his later movies, he has some dialogue he HAS to yell and overdramatize.

The Keanu Reeves "Whoa." Started in "Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure," but now he uses it, even when not needed.

The Michael Madsen Squint. Yes, I know he squints more often than most others, but there seems to be a certain look/squint he has when he wants to make a point to the audience that he's thinking really hard, or that he's about to say something important. It's usually directed off camera, like he's looking far away into the horizon or something.

The Brad Pitt Hand-Talking. Really noticeable in "Fight Club" and the episode of "Friends" he guest-starred in. His later movies, he always has his palm/hand rigid-straight when he's making a point.

Discuss.

Tom Cruise running.

To something, away from something, both... It doesn't matter, he's always running.

Well, I heard somewhere thats there's some estimates that around 4 million of "Meet the Spartans" take was from kids who were just buying tickets for that, then slipping in to go see "RAMBO" which open the same weekend.
