Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

Well, I heard somewhere thats there's some estimates that around 4 million of "Meet the Spartans" take was from kids who were just buying tickets for that, then slipping in to go see "RAMBO" which open the same weekend.

That's STILL $34 MILLION.

Just sayin'.

Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

Masochists?

Darwin candidates. :D

Even at $100 per ticket, and saying that it brought in $30 million legitimately, that's uh, hm....carry the two......divide by $Texas.....uh.....a crapload of people (minus 20) who should not have <strike>paid to watch</strike> seen that film.

Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

Just read an article on yahoo that there is a possible remake of The Secret of NIMH in the works (based on the book Mrs Brisby and the Rats of NIMH. At first I was kind of excited...hoping for a new take on a classic animated movie. Then I read on. Apparently they want to do a combo of live action and computer animation ala G-Force and Alvin and the Chimpmunks. I was immediately dissapointed. The original was so great with the classic hand-drawn animation. Its been a while since Ive seen it but I do remember some stunning visuals. I just dont think that same wonder will translate it live action. At the very least I would have liked to see it done in all computer animation like a Pixar movie or something. Plus the fact that there will be yet another remake out there is just annoying.

I just read the same thing, but I was disappointed that they would try and remake that in the first place.

Let's hope "The Dark Crystal" remains buried. That movie was friggin' creepy.

It doesn't matter how many times I watch Role Models (like say...right now) it is always AWESOME! :D

Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

Nope. I'm sure my wife would love it though, so I would guess it'll be added to Netflix soon.

Ah -- okay. It's a miniseries presented as a movie (it's just a shade short of 3 hours). I had a question about the ending, but seeing as you haven't seen it, it would be tough to answer.

Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

My mind started rambling today, and I thought of a few "signature traits" that some actors have in every movie. Any others you guys can think of, similar to these?

The most obvious is The Al Pacino Yell. At one point in just about all his later movies, he has some dialogue he HAS to yell and overdramatize.

The Keanu Reeves "Whoa." Started in "Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure," but now he uses it, even when not needed.

The Michael Madsen Squint. Yes, I know he squints more often than most others, but there seems to be a certain look/squint he has when he wants to make a point to the audience that he's thinking really hard, or that he's about to say something important. It's usually directed off camera, like he's looking far away into the horizon or something.

The Brad Pitt Hand-Talking. Really noticeable in "Fight Club" and the episode of "Friends" he guest-starred in. His later movies, he always has his palm/hand rigid-straight when he's making a point.

Discuss.

Kevin Spacey is always smarmy.

Nicholas Cage likes to raise his voice at the end of a sentence to drive home a point.

He also sort of does this half-laugh when he's trying to say something important... I hate it when people do that in real life.

Nic Cage: good ones, guys. I had to think about that one (haven't seen a Cage movie in a while) and both of your takes are spot-on.

Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

This weekend's random thought:

Has there been an actor/actress that you considered to be non-serious/non-good, or you considered very one-dimensional, and found a movie (and some subsequent ones) that completely changed your opinion?

Watching From Dusk Till Dawn tonight, and I remembered when I first saw it years ago. This movie made me say to myself, "Dam, Clooney is a BADARSE!" Completely sold me as an actor.

Discuss.

Adam Sandler in Punch Drunk Love. Jim Carrey in Truman Show.

Anyone seen Funny People yet?

I'm the fence on whether or not I'm going to go see it and was looking for some input.

I've heard its very funny (duh) but like Apatow's other movies, drags a bit in places and is a bit too long. I hope to see it soon.
