Brown said something after the friday game like "if we hadn't beat UAH" or something like it would have and York wasn't there or words to the effect that it made you think it would count even if He were home, which i dont understand

I'm not JB, and this may have already been answered, but I sit in the 2nd row, dead center, behind that goal.
Hansen was blocked from position; as the puck trickled through the crease, a UNH player (Goumas?) shoved the puck with his fist to clear the crease. He never covered the puck, he dropped to the ice and then "snowplowed" it away with a closed-hand; but from where Hansen was, I don't think he could've seen that. I think his immediate reaction was penalty shot (which I was livid about) but the linesman who was down low in that corner made the same hand movement while they were discussing it, so he must have simply told Hansen the puck was never covered - and since the next player to touch it was wearing Maroon and Gold, it wasn't even a hand pass.
Just a, "I think I just shat myself" moment . . .

first goal against- 22 took the player w/ puck as he curled around net- 5 took the most dangerous forward next who was coming into the puck side post-BC player threw the puck thru the crease to the next attacking BC player. That Trailer/3rd man in scored the goal- responsibility was backchecking forward.
2nd goal against- 3 on 2 based on UNH forward tunover deep in BC zone. 2 took the wide wing with puck. 6 took on BC 13 who was splitting the D with a middle drive tactic and then made pass to wide left side winger who scored- again UNH forward/ backchecker was trailing behind the goal scorer.
3rd goal- UNH D change- first D out- # 5. His rsponsibility is to take away the stretch pass on the far boards. # 22 responsibility was to take the center of the blue line. He was late covering that- don't know if the previous D coming off was slow or not- but 22 couldn't get there. 13 takes that second pass of the combo up the middle and scores. The unusual circumstance is that on the dump in to the BC end, the goalie made the breakout pass to a far side winger who then made the middle seam pass to 13.
4th goal- Knodel ( show some respect and spell his name right ) forces the attacking BC player into the corner and below the goal line and knocks him down. Puck shoots back to the corner on goal line. BC #13 gathers it there. 27 is with 5 feet and stares at him. BC 13 throws a cross ice pass to far post where BC player is sliding in and scores the goal. # 22 and an unidentifiable UNH forward are standing still doing nothing in front of the net.
5th goal- 27 turns the puck over at his own blue line and BC starts what eventually becomes a 3 on 3. 5 comes from his left D position to the right side to take the puck carrier. He forces puck carrier to skate below the goal line instead of getting direct access to the goal. puck carrier throws a backhanded prayer pass from below the goal line. Again, another uncovered BC player is coming towards the net with a UNH forward chasing helplessly behind the play.
Review the tape- let me know if anything that I just said is untrue.
By the way- I was sitting in the UNH players friends and family section behind the UNH bench Friday night and in the third period I over heard a guy who came down to the seats and started bashing the kid, unaware that he was sitting 2 seats from his father. Would you have any idea who that might have been? I think he was weaing a dark hat and had some short wiskers on his chin. Let me know if you can think of anybody. Have a nice day.

That's the way I saw it as well. The backchecking UNH forwards were less effective than they needed to be on the BC goals.

I think the problem Friday was speed. UNH has been the fastest team on the ice in all games until they got to BC. I don't think BC was faster than UNH but clearly just as fast. In some cases the backchecking forward just couldn't gain ground, in others there was standing and watching. So a 2 on 2 with a trailing forward became 3 on 2 instead of a 3 on 3. Both improved Saturday, looked to me like the 3rd forward stayed higher Saturday to help be in position.
In general UNH played a tighter game Saturday, which I think lead to some of the BC frustration penalties.
Also on Friday's partial breakaway goal Knodel had another problem. When he hit the ice there was a forward on the far wing (I think it was 11 Pat Mulane) in position at the BC bench, he had to respect that player. As soon as Knodel was in position Mulane went for a change and Gaudreau jumped up the ice leaving Knodel looking way out of position in no man’s land. Pesce is a very good D-man and based on how hard he was skating when he came into the frame I think he was late getting off the bench. Knodel however is not the fastest D-man and normally compensates very well in his positioning. I think in hindsight Knodel was too far up ice for that situation and needed to be a little further back in zone and a little more toward center, but could he even see the change behind him was slow, for whatever reason. Really that entire play was set up by the very fast transition up ice generated by Milner.
For whatever reason the pairing on Knodel and Pesce was not effective Friday and was split up on Saturday

Maybe not top to bottom but that first line moves, and that looked to be where UNH had all the issues.
So far this year UNH has been clearly the fastest team in every game I have seen. Against BCs first line it was a draw, I should have been clearer expressing my point.
This is my seventh year as a season ticket holder (quite a run, huh?) and this team is by far the slowest BC team in those 7 years , IMO. I know, BC teams are always pretty fast or blazing fast, this one? not so much

To be fair, this is probably as meaningful of a victory as Austin Block will have in his 4 years at UNH.
