New Hampshire vs. Boston College Fri Jan 11/Sat Jan 12

Re: New Hampshire vs. Boston College Fri Jan 11/Sat Jan 12

To be fair, this is probably as meaningful of a victory as Austin Block will have in his 4 years at UNH.

Thankfully, All-Milk Carton Team forward John Henrion got the GWG to secure that victory!

(though had Arnold not run him from behind after the buzzer, he probably doesn't run his mouth at all)

I'm watching the highlights provided in your thread (which contain the end of the game). As Block circles the net, he clearly looks around and see who's coming. Was the contact after the horn and unnecessary? Yep. But it comes within one second of the clock showing zeros and Block knows he's there. It was hardly a run from behind. There wasn't even a penalty called and we know Hockey East refs wouldn't miss a chance to call a penalty even in that scenario.

How many examples of HE refs calling penalties with the clock at 00:00 do you have?

Counting the UNH v. UML melee a few years back, at least 2 now. And more like 148 if you count that one brouhaha of a handshake, lol

If you didn't word it so terribly the first time around, maybe I would have understood. And UNH scored their first goal Friday night on a bad play by Wey. Who gives a crap? It's all part of the game. Good goalies keep games close--it's their job. The discrepancy was in the 2nd period, a period dominated by PP time for UNH. And even after all that, BC was able to weather the storm and even tie the game in the 3rd only to lose it on...you guessed it, a PP goal. UNH doesn't have the top offensive talent that BC does. If they did, maybe you win 4-1 last night or something similar.

Nobody is trying to take the two points away from you. Congrats on the win last night. BC's streak over UNH wasn't going to last forever. Coming off the performances against Minny and Yale, I'm very pleased with this weekend. Now, the schedule opens up a bit for BC.

J.D. relax. I know BC is a very good team and very well coached. You are clearly rationalizing the loss. Get over it and move on. You may be right that BC is more talented than UNH offensively but I didn't see it. UNH's PP looked better to me than BC's and UNH's PK looked better to me than BC's. Maybe BC had an off night and maybe UNH had an off night friday night. Good luck the rest of the way.

Re: New Hampshire vs. Boston College Fri Jan 11/Sat Jan 12

I've seen it multiple times.

As has every Hockey East fan except Agganis apparently. Forgive me if I don't feel like going back through the years and finding every example. If somebody "gets run from behind", a penalty is being called...no matter how much time is on the clock.

I'm relaxed and over the loss--as I said, this was a good weekend for BC. I was over it when it happened. I don't consider BC's loss an "off night". That would be what happened out at Minnesota or at home against Yale. But, this is a consistent style of posting from what I remember of you. Anyway, again, I am not saying that UNH didn't outplay BC Saturday or that they didn't deserve to win. I will, however, maintain that BC undoubtedly has more top end offensive talent than UNH. On the other hand, UNH has more scoring depth. So in that regard, it's a very intriguing matchup.

BC has the #2 PP in the country. UNH is tied with Alabama-Huntsville. You're right about the UNH PK though. Outstanding...#1 in the nation.

It's almost like you have no idea what you're talking about here. I, for one, am shocked at this. I've never thought this before. No really.

Haha the ratio of insults to even anecdotal evidence is great.

I can remember 2, I believe, BU at RPI 3 seasons ago, and I believe one of the 5 straight games BU and NU played at the end of that same season, but both of those were for handshake extracurriculars, not even late hits, but the refs certainly "never miss a chance to call those penalties"

This is my seventh year as a season ticket holder (quite a run, huh?:D) and this team is by far the slowest BC team in those 7 years , IMO. I know, BC teams are always pretty fast or blazing fast, this one? not so much

They are still faster than 99% of the other D1 teams. Im always impressed with their speed and talent.

Agganis, you really are just making a fool of yourself. This is comical. I would say stop playing dumb but it's clear you're not playing. It doesn't matter what you remember. Check out the highlights for yourself and tell me with a straight face that it was a "run from behind". If it was, arnold would have been penalized. There are things like this instance that go uncalled for good reason but there have been plenty examples over the years of penalties being handed out at the 20 minute mark. Just because you can't remember, haveselective memory or simply haven't watched enough hockey doesn't mean it's not true. But, by all means, keep waiting for that anecdotal evidence. Try doing the research yourself. Check every box score from the last 10 years and report your findings. That should at least keep you busy...

Maybe it had something to do with the 27-6 penalty minute disparity?

Maybe sean or whatever his name is can run it in his database

UNH's PP looked better to me than BC's and UNH's PK looked better to me than BC's.
UNH was 1 for 7 on the PP, BC 0 for 3.
Like you, I was particularly impressed wit the UNH 5:00 PP with a full 2 minute 5 on 3 thrown in there. BC may have a better looking PK if they could figure out a way to stay fresh and kill that kind of disadvantage. I'll give them a pass though for looking so bad against such a well oiled PP unit. ;) :p

The JD we know would never miss an opportunity to put a comical, dumb fool in his place. It's ok if you posted about that scenario without remembering a time it ever happened, I won't think any less of you:)

Re: New Hampshire vs. Boston College Fri Jan 11/Sat Jan 12

We? You're on an island by yourself here. I don't care what you think of me. Penalties being called at the 20 minute mark does not mean it was a memorable all out brawl. That seems to be what you think.

Have to think that goumas' shameful actions in the crease on saturday following his illegal hand pass goal on Friday have really hurt his hobey chances. It was certainly his to lose going into this weekend. #cheater
