New Hampshire vs. Boston College Fri Jan 11/Sat Jan 12

Re: New Hampshire vs. Boston College Fri Jan 11/Sat Jan 12

The good news for BC fans.
Austin Block skating in front of the BC bench talking smack right after the final buzzer. That was a good idea.
I bet the Eagles forget that ever happened. :D :p

BC was very whiney to the refs tonight. Unusual, Jerry does seem to put up with that. One part of the game that surprised me.

All teams have their moments when it comes to officiating. A sign of frustration and belief you're not getting a fair shake. It happens. Oh well. And even if York wanted to tell his players to knock it off, he wasn't in the building. Still, no matter who the coach, that stuff goes on all the time. Some guys think they've never committed a penalty, etc.

You'd think you'd want to save the trash talking for a more meaningful victory...

Might have been because he got drilled by Arnold after the buzze in the corner., there was a little more feistiness tonight than last night. It always seems backwards, tight low scoring game on th lake after a higher scoring game on the smaller sheet... Good luck the rest of the way

True, that. Like BC getting a power play negated on a questionable Arnold slash when he was playing the puck. A few minutes later, McLeod is breaking in and gets his stick knocked out of his hands by a vicious two hand slash. No call. That stuff can pizz a team off.

JB, what happened in the scrum in front of DeSmith? The puck was never tied up and was sitting loose on the side edge of the crease. Hansen is skating closer to the net and all of a sudden the puck goes shooting across the ice to the side board. Hansen blows the whistle immediately and looked like he had signaled for a penalty shot. Then nothing... except that he obviously screwed up by blowing the whistle.

The Mayan calendar ended and the world didn't end. UNH finally beat BC and the world didn't end. Your team is still one of the top two in the country in the long run. Minnesota being the other. Move on.

Too many bodies tough to tell. Hansen thought unh player glooved it in the crease, but I never saw the puck covered. I think hansen lost sight of the puck thought it was covered by UNH blew it dead but it was free the whole time. When the refs talked one linesmen just kept shaking his head no. He would have had same angle as me and I thought puck was free the whole time.

I thought Aronald slash was a hook that allowed him to play the puck... if I am thinking of the same play.

BC just seemed whinier than I can remember in a long time. Game was gritty playoff hockey style, both teams got chippy. If it wasnt really obvious or dangerous the refs let them play.

Pairwise- whats a higher number- 5935 or 5899? Thats what i thought.

RPI- whats better? 5901 or 5937? 14-4-2 or -13-4-2? Thats what I thought too!

hmm, ok, wow, just checked, 3 way tie in the pairwise with Q

i had a great view of that, he put his hand over the puck and swept it over to the side. I thought a penalty was coming too , couldnt figure out how it was not seen. Hey, make no mistake, UNH deserved to win this game. Rarely does BC get out shot like that, at one point it was 36-13 until BC buzzed around the last few minutes but as JD said, it was there for the taking and BC had more than a couple of great chances to tie it up but no dice, UNH was up to the task. Much chippier than any BC-UNH game i can remember. Makes 2/17/12 huge. Good luck to you guys except for that game.:)

Not sure what you mean here. It's not like they got run out of the building. The game was 1-1 in the 3rd and there for the taking. That's the kind of game I expected tonight.

But for the BC goal on a bad UNH turnover and Milner keeping it close I think the score could have been much more lopsided in UNH's favor. Not sure what you don't get about that. Actually I expected a tighter game in terms of play and SOG's and penalties. I think UNH frustrated BC and the resultant penalties bear that out.

. Shots really don't tell the tale though. I think UNH outshot BC Friday too, but most of them were lazy, from the outside with no shott of a rebound. Yesterday, in the second period, 20-3 shots, a lot if that had to do with the power play situations, which have been pretty hapless for UNH. The team defense was as good as it has been all year, last night, which is what UNH needs to have a shot at winning. They did keep Johhny Hockey B Gaudreauby Baker off the score sheet for just the second time this season which is an accomplishment. Can't say I didn't get a little nervous every single time he was on the ice....

From my angle at DeSmith's 5 O'Clock in the 4th row, there was a dangerous rebound with DeSmith in the front of the crease. Another UNH skater saw this and dove behind DeSmith to cover the bottom. As this happened, the puck fumbled through the five-hole, getting caught up in the pads. As soon as it cleared pads, the horizontal guy took a couple of swats to clear it out to 3 O'Clock, the first of which got caught up on Casey's skate. Once clear, it was deflected back, and another UNH body pinned it against the back net. This all happened on the 3 O'Clock side, while zebra was hanging out at 8 O'Clock.

yeah, no.
it was a lot less complicated. Someone (I think Hayes?) fanned on a shot and the puck trickled through the crease, got behind DeSmith and Goumas swept it away to the right of the net.... video had good replay of it

I think we're saying the same thing? At any rate, my "oh crap!" filter is prone to embellish.

If you didn't word it so terribly the first time around, maybe I would have understood. And UNH scored their first goal Friday night on a bad play by Wey. Who gives a crap? It's all part of the game. Good goalies keep games close--it's their job. The discrepancy was in the 2nd period, a period dominated by PP time for UNH. And even after all that, BC was able to weather the storm and even tie the game in the 3rd only to lose it on...you guessed it, a PP goal. UNH doesn't have the top offensive talent that BC does. If they did, maybe you win 4-1 last night or something similar.

Nobody is trying to take the two points away from you. Congrats on the win last night. BC's streak over UNH wasn't going to last forever. Coming off the performances against Minny and Yale, I'm very pleased with this weekend. Now, the schedule opens up a bit for BC.

Ya, sure. And I don't know how BC/BU "act", but no need to have an inferiority complex.
