New Hampshire vs. Boston College Fri Jan 11/Sat Jan 12

Re: New Hampshire vs. Boston College Fri Jan 11/Sat Jan 12

Seems like Bunyon & Hansen once again have a great handle on what is going on tonight

Re: New Hampshire vs. Boston College Fri Jan 11/Sat Jan 12

Can't say I'm surprised by the split. On the whole, I'd say this was a pretty good weekend for BC after the terrible performances against Minnesota and Yale. Take it and move on. Too much time spent killing penalties tonight.

Re: New Hampshire vs. Boston College Fri Jan 11/Sat Jan 12

Sorry BC folks, that was unnecessary of calling a kid names like that. Overreaction, don't want to take away from a good weekend of hockey, my bad!

Re: New Hampshire vs. Boston College Fri Jan 11/Sat Jan 12

I really can't figure out this mutha fucha character...

Re: New Hampshire vs. Boston College Fri Jan 11/Sat Jan 12

Milner made some great saves tonight. The kid is top notch.

UNH has had a great season so far. Suddenly:
Too many uncovered forwards.
Too much talent.
Traditional Umile weaknesses, e.g., ineffectual powerplay, lack of mental focus, passes to nowhere, inability to play the body.
BC is an outstanding team. Thank you for putting everything into perspective.

Guessing you'll crawl back under your rock after tonight's win...

He's not hiding under a rock. He's hiding in his room, staring up at his fave BC team photo that he got Jerry York to sign. ;)

hayes was really giving it to Goumas right in front of me next time he was on the ice, bad acting job i thought

I initially thought Goumas was done for the game since he just stayed down, was surprised to see him come back a few minutes later (before the major was up). His acting was better than Gaudreau's when Henrion hit him in the third. I did feel the major was justified on the Goumas hit because anyone with their eyes open saw it coming and there was no letting up. I felt that other than Matheson (Goumas hit and knocking the goal off) the game was well played between both sides. Both teams had flashes of dominance, the hits were mostly clean, and the chippiness was to be expected when two top teams are in a hard fought game.

Very exciting game to watch, and hats off to Milner for keeping it closer than I thought it should have been based on play.

Re: New Hampshire vs. Boston College Fri Jan 11/Sat Jan 12

Other than the one touch give up hanging DeSmith out to dry, UNH played a strong two way game. Milner kept it close otherwise UNH lights it up big time. If I'm BC I'm saying "don't get too high after a win or too low after a loss." Wonder if they said that to themselves after last nights win?

Re: New Hampshire vs. Boston College Fri Jan 11/Sat Jan 12

This weekend? There were certainly no dives from him last night and he doesn't have that reputation either. So let's not base it on possibly one embellishment that you saw tonight, pal. What is with some of the overreactions here?

Not sure what you mean here. It's not like they got run out of the building. The game was 1-1 in the 3rd and there for the taking. That's the kind of game I expected tonight.

Re: New Hampshire vs. Boston College Fri Jan 11/Sat Jan 12

I must have glossed over that one from last night considering nobody in the arena was clamoring for a penalty--including himself. Him screaming at the refs after every penalty is also a new one for him. Amazing what happens when BC plays UNH

Sheesh, glad this series is over. And "Jawey" wasn't there last night either.

Re: New Hampshire vs. Boston College Fri Jan 11/Sat Jan 12

Gaudreau did not once approach a ref. Have never seen him do it since he's been here. You got the wrong guy pal.

OK, someone explain this. Matheson comes out of the penalty box and is bee lining across ice heading to the bench. Slams into Goumas blind side (who goes down like he has been shot... holds his head for a good 5 minutes, or at least until the refs think he's dead so they give Matheson 5 and game). The hit was incidental contact... not head hunting arse wipe.
Fast forward to third period... Gaudreau passes the puck at the blue line. Henrion had him lined up and slams him with an elbow to the face. He doesn't even get a contact to the head call, just 'elbowing'. Johnny has to learn to fall straight to the ice and play dead for 10 minutes.
Personally, I saw Henrion's hit as intent, and Matheson's as incidental contact.
This is the way it is with BC hockey. Playing against the opponent and HE refs.
It's why we rule in the post season and you guys suck. Your HE buddies ain't there to protect you. :p

Re: New Hampshire vs. Boston College Fri Jan 11/Sat Jan 12

He got popped pretty good and it was a dirty hit by Henrion. Stayed down trying to draw the 5 min but you cant look up at the ref see him looking and put your head back down.

Goumas was elbowed in the back of the head blind side hit. Went down the tunnel and was evaluted by the team dr.

BC was very whiney to the refs tonight. Unusual, Jerry does seem to put up with that. One part of the game that surprised me.

I'm guessing you are responding to "Goldie". I don't believe he is a UNH fan.

Both hits with same intent. Matheson's hit was in no way incidental. Major difference is the blindside from behind vs face to face. Without the acting I would have done the samething, the 5 should have been because from behind to the head is so dangerous. Unfortunately the acting likely played a big part of the call.

Ask Marc Savard about a blindside hit to the head.... just dangerous
