NCAA Quarterfinal: Elmira @ Norwich Saturday 3/13

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal: Elmira @ Norwich Saturday 3/13

Sarducci's in Montpelier is a sure bet if you like italian. There are several other choices in the downtown area as well. Julio's on State St is reasonable mexican. J. Morgan's Steakhouse in the lobby of the Capital Plaza hotel (also State St), has provided some great meals at slightly higher prices that the other 2.

J. Morgan's is superb. Have been going to the Capital Plaza since 1962--now owned and run by a Norwich Alum. Last time we were there (a month ago for the Skidmore game) you needed a reservations for the steak house or you were out of luck. Same thing for Sunday brunch. Recommend you call now. Good luck.

History means nothing. It’s the present day players, coaching, momentum that counts. I think Elmira could be a big spoiler in this one. Elmira is capable of beating any team in the tourney. I did live in Vermont for 6 years and attended many Norwich and Middleberry games and experienced the fact that it is a hard place for outside teams to come in and win games. I will still go for Norwich 6-4 with the reservation that this could be an upset in the making.
O Ya Lakers Take it all!:D

Given the emphasis placed on hockey (men's and women's) at Elmira, you would think it would get more attention. It doesn't have to cost much or take that much effort or training to put on a much better product. Maybe peer pressure will make something happen.

As for the organization we love to hate, the only role the NCAA has in the early rounds is to grant permission for the webcast...CBS gets involved and has to sign-off if the webcast also gets transmitted on a local cable channel.

Have you seen the road, wait, rapidly deteriating "black top" that leads from Rte 14 to the parking lots? First they need to repave that. Then they need to repaint the ceiling all white and get back to the original lighting design. Next they need to change up the enterance music "I want my MTV". It puts me to sleep before the boys get on the ice. Fourth, need to get regular radio announcers. Lastly, then get the video streaming up and going.

You've gotta master the basics first.

Is Elmira College having a bus to take fans up to the game? What are the "Boosters" doing?

A good chunck will be watching the women's team at 3pm, then watching the online video at 7. ;)

How about the fact they paid to get a special purple and gold caution sign made instead of just fixing the road.;)

You'd think a school that costs 50K to go to would be able to splurge a little.

I don't mind the entrance song they use. At first I thought it was a little weird but it's not terrible.

I do wish they still came out to "Thunderstruck" though. Part of how the domes got their nickname of the Thunderdomes.

Totally agree with this whole post, based solely on ONE game I attended at the domes. I'd also add getting the radio announcers to be less than a minute delayed. When I had WELM on wednesday, I felt like I was listening to one game and watching another. I got sick of it, and turned off the WELM stream.

What happened to First Soaring Eagle Air?

I thought everyone was hoping on a flight at Elmira/Corning Regional as soon as the women's game ends around 5 p.m. and heading up to Northfield?

weak sauce.

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal: Elmira @ Norwich Saturday 3/13

The state owns the MAC, therefore, the road must need open bidding to get fixed, right? Maybe that's part of it?

It's not just the actual road, but also the bridge that spans the small creek. As you notice, there is only one way into the MAC property. If the bridge is fixed, it will halt all traffic into the MAC for a certain amount of time.

It definately needs fixed, but I guess it's all about the timeline.

Good luck Soaring Eagles!!!!

This is getting off topic but valaid points. It's too bad the gas pipeline company couldn't have helped out with the road sinc they hauled tons of equipment up there.

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal: Elmira @ Norwich Saturday 3/13

So am I correct in assuming that No Elmira posters are making the trip on Saturday except for hockeylongtimer?

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal: Elmira @ Norwich Saturday 3/13

The Prez and CardsRuletheBurgh are officially coming tomorrow!!!

Hopefully we'll be able to meet up with all of the Norwich posters again. I believe I've met Charlie, Jerry, Puckvoice and thats actually it out of the Wick posters.

NUProf and Steve Day are on my list for this season.

That's more than I've met in 5 games so far this year at the K-berg. I'm still at a whopping 0. Hopefully, I'll be able to meet some this time around.

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal: Elmira @ Norwich Saturday 3/13

Ok can someone please point the unknowing ( me :o ) to a link for these webcasts being cited.

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal: Elmira @ Norwich Saturday 3/13

Since we're on the subject, all four quarterfinals are going to be available and free.

Plattsburgh @ Middlebury - http://www.gomidd.tv/login.php (Those used to fa$thockey may notice a slight similarity)

Elmira @ Norwich - http://nsnsports.net/members/video/live/?v=stream2

Bowdoin @ Oswego - http://www.oswego.edu/athletics/live/ (run by WTOP)

Gustavus Adolphus @ St. Norbert - http://www.audiosportsonline.net/StNorbert/2009Hockey.htm (it says "listen" for this weekend's game, but I have to imagine it would be video. They were probably just preparing to find out they got screwed and GAC was actually the #1 seed, and they'll be on the road :p )

One more (last?) time....
