NCAA Hockey - 2023/24 **Insert Witty Tagline**

50 years as a hockey fan and tonight for the first time I saw a pulled goalie return without a stoppage.

What’s the scenario they pulled the goalie and didn’t keep the extra skater? I’ve seen a couple videos of teams changing goalies on the fly but that was either D3 or HS and just doing it for fun.

Harvard down 4-1 gets a power play with 5 to play, pulls the goalie for 6x4, when our man got outta the box they pushed their goalie back in. \_(ツ)_/

Well, that's why they play the game. Minnesota was actually better on the stat sheet last night (maybe minus an even larger faceoff disparity Friday), but a couple strange goals kept them in it for the 3-3 tie. MSU won the shootout though so that extends the Gophers' insane scoreless shootout streak, let alone shootout losing streak, to something crazy like 0/22 going back to around 2019 I believe. Five points is a nice cushion going into the final four series, but seven would've been a lot nicer.

Good bounce back last night. Need Minnesota to go to OT once now if everyone wins out.

I'm also surprised leaving the bench to fight is only a misconduct and not a DSQ.

Hard to imagine MN wins out. Both Mich and Ohio St have a lot to play for, and PSU is playing a lot better. Going to Happy Valley last week of the RS is going to be far from a cakewalk.
Honestly Im fine with MN finishing in 2nd, though. Yes I'd like to hang the regular season banner, but that first round bye actually sucks, especially if you slip up and lose in the semi's. Even if you win there, only playing 2 games in the 3 weeks leading up to the NCAA is bad. The Big10 really needs to rethink the post season tournament.

If I remember right, the Big Ten either wanted to go with 2 of 3 for the semis or host the semis and finals at the 1 seed’s rink, but both Wisconsin and OSU objected because they host basketball and wrestling for high school and didn’t want to have to reserve so many optional dates.

Big10 isn't the only conference that does a one-off for the semi's; the CCHA does as well and the NCHC will start next season. The difference is all participating teams have at least one best-of-three series, easing the handicap of a tournament bound team bowing out in the semi's and the "2 games in 3 weeks" inevitability for the conference champion.

At a minimum I'd like to see the Big10 semi's be best-of-three. Gimping NCAA bound teams (even if you only acknowledge it's a slight gimp) every single year because a couple conference members can't sort their rinks out seems dumb.
