Movies: Poor Things, Barbie and Oppenheimer are stuck in La La Land

TCM really has stepped up their game. I don't know if I need another streaming service, but they're making me want it.

Willow Creek is a decent theater. They have a bar and if you aren't driving they have THC drinks ;)

TCM has Nazi themed movies today, and The Great Dictator(Hail Hynkel!)on the other day. Wonder if that might be in celebration of the orange blob's inauguration?

The Last Showgirl was good, even if Pam Anderson's character is a selfish sack of crap (to say nothing of Dave Bautista's baby daddy). Do be prepared for the sort of pretentious, arty cinematography you'd expect from a Coppola descendant getting high on their own family name and catching a case of the try-hards. I'll be d@mned if Las Vegas doesn't always look fantastic in Super 16 though.

Watched Conclave last night. Not to bad. Ralph Fiennes did well I thought as did Tucci. Predicted the result as soon as the character was introduced, though the little twist after wasn't quite what I was expecting. Said twist didn't really feel like much though. No "oh no way, I did NOT expect that" type of moment. It just kind of was there. My reaction was more "eh, ok." I did think the film was well shot though and looked great.

Also Jarhead is a pretty good Gulf War I movie.

Haven't seen that in a long time. I should watch that, I can barely remember what it's about.

But it ain't no Generation Kill. Some of the most intense battle scenes you'll see, but at the same time, one of the most hysterically funny shows I've ever seen.

I have no idea why James Ransone didn't become a huge star after that.

Which is the Gulf War movie with the macabre Christmas party? That scene was excellent, admittedly.
