It was Kubrick style, and that is another one I did not like, but understood. Massively over-rated, IMO.

You are insane. ApNow is incredible. The director's cut additions are garbage though.

I tried watching 2001. Tried.

Edit: except for the actual slang dialogue, I liked Clockwork Orange. Full Metal Jacket is GOAT for war movies.

Umm...Flight of the Intruder was the GOAT for war movies. :D

Ok, maybe that's just me since it's based on my favorite book by my favorite author (see, I DO read). :)

Does Great Escape count as a war movie?

If not that then Grand Illusion is the GOAT.

I'm surprised you CAN read, being a Whioux fan and all. :D

Eyes Wide Shut was terrible.

Are you telling me you didn't like Strangelove because you're lying.

To be fair about 2001 there is no way anybody could figure out the ending without reading the book.

But if somebody couldn't figure out the beginning, well, that says more about them. It's very straightfoward; some people just don't like it.

I told you. I shouldn’t have liked it. It was ****ing bizarre. But for some reason I liked it.

Haven’t seen Strangelove, at least not recently enough to remember. I stopped seeking Kubrick after Clockwork and 2001, seemingly brilliant standards to measure other cinema.

The first part of 2001 was fine. The ending was just dumb.

Dr. Strangelove is one of the 5 best films ever made. Period. End of story. I watched it the other day and I liked it more now than the last time. It is perfect.

Eyes Wide Shut is what they show torture victims when waterboarding doesnt work. Good god everyone involved deserves to be shamed even Sydney Pollack.

Kep - regarding 2001 are you referring to "The Sentinel" or the novelization of the film released after it premiered?

In either case I didn't love nor hate 2001 which puts me I think in a very small crowd.

Dr. Strangelove was incredible and I watch it probably once a year. I enjoyed A Clockwork Orange but haven't watched in at least 20 years. I wonder if I'd still enjoy it today.

Apocalypse Now ranks very highly for me and always will, even if there are times when I feel like a hash brownie I ate in the 80's is coming back up in certain parts.

I mean the novelization, you're right. There is no way audiences at the time could have understood the ending. The first time I saw it at 17 I did not understand it and had to have my friend's hippy dad splain it to me.

It didn't suck because it was weird. Weird is good. It sucked because it sucked.
