Movies 2026: Shame and Money

One of her best roles, and one of the movies I regularly rewatch on rotation and can quote all the way through verbatim (The Thing, Airplane!, The Music Man, 2001, Young Frankenstein, Buckaroo Banzai, Guys & Dolls, Pitch Black).

The Substance. D.

Saved from an F simply by the premise, which while a hoary trope did have a few nice touches. But after that... this is one of the worst movies I've ever seen all the way through. Most truly awful movies are obvious and I don't even start them. This was a bait and switch.

My favorite review included the phrase "lack of subtlety."

This. It should have been a clue that they wouldn't be able to pull a good movie off when they casted Dennis Quaid.
