MLB 2022: Playing Ball, But Is Anyone Still Watching?

Giants were on last night and the 2 innings I watched was the most in prob 10 years. Impressed by the pitch clocking moving the game along.

Currently having a discussion on Mets reddit with a user named EdJewCated.

Sometimes, albeit it vanishingly rarely, I actually miss NYC.

I like the 1970s vibe of these Twins unis, even if the colors are the most boring of any baseball uniform I have ever seen and yes that includes the ChiSox.

Mets broadcasters going on and on about how much they love the food selections at the Minneapolis ballpark. Putting it with Baltimore, Denver, and Pittsburgh as the best food in MLB.

The Angels usage of Trout and Ohtani are the equivalent of the Lions using Barry and Calvin Johnson. Generational talents with no playoff success and bad ownership.

For years Rays fans have been saying that it’s the stadium location in that’s killing attendance, not that there isn’t a fan base. Somewhat backed up by the fact they’re in the top half of the league in TV despite being in the basement for attendance. Just put the stadium on the Tampa side and the attendance issue will fix itself. But what is ownership planning to do? Build a new stadium in St Pete.

Saw an article that said with the Rays stadium situation being finished the next step will be Oakland moving to Vegas but Oakland being awarded an expansion team along with Nashville.

Why would you give Oakland a new team after letting the previous leave? Dumb.

Also, Raleigh area should be up for an expansion team.

The reasoning given was:

1. It would avoid legal issues with Oakland.

2. The stadium in Vegas likely wouldn’t be ready until 2028 so it would give the A’s the ability to keep playing in Oakland until then.

3. It would make realignment a lot easier.

That seems like a good way to make it so the A's sell less than 2,000 tickets/game for their final years in Oakland.

With 11 games left, the Mariners and Rangers sit a half game back of the Astros in the AL West.

The Mariners have one game against the A’s then three against the Astros and seven against the Rangers.
