MLB 2022: Playing Ball, But Is Anyone Still Watching?

Angels crashed and burned after going all in at the deadline. Now Trout is going back to the IL and Ohtani tore his UCL again so he’s done pitching for the year. If I was him I would just pack it in for the year and start rehabbing to make it possible to pitch sooner, but he’s not that kind of guy.

Probably cut a couple hundred million off his free agency

For sure. There was an article saying how he’s still worth 500 mil as a DH in part because of his popularity, but what feeds his popularity is being a two way player. If he’s only a DH he’s still a great hitter, but he’s not worth the record contract anymore if he’s now allowed to throw.

The last man to lead his team in homeruns and wins in the same season was Walter Johnson in 1918.

He had 1 homerun.

(He also did it in 1914, with 2 homeruns.)

I've seen a guy not know how many outs, and I've even seen an umpire not know. But tonight in the top of the sixth, the entire Mets team in the field did not know it was 3 outs.

My FIL does estate work - valuing estates, buying up various items people have inherited, and so on. Today, somebody sold him a bunch of collectible cards for $200. In that collection was the entire 1969 Seattle Pilots card set.

So what's that kind of thing worth

Are they trying to give you hope again?

Oh man. Bad injury in NY. Messed up pick off, Angels pitcher drilled in the temple by a throw. Dropped like a tree.

Edit: He's up now, but short of Theisman I've never seen an athlete register such pain.

All the players, both teams, are shaken up. The sound from the isolated mic on the replay was like an apple being thrown onto pavement.
