so is mookie correct in saying that when the “runner” heads to 2nd base in extra innings, this this is the bloke who made the last out in the prior inning?

MLB did the first of their traveling HR Derby X mini-games today in London. They announced these at some point and then I promptly forgot they existed until seeing the video. Skipped around to a few different parts and while it seems interesting, the camera angles don’t make for a good viewing experience. But I think these are supposed to be more of an in-person event anyway.

Wouldn’t mind seeing this replace the HR derby for all star weekend, though maybe keep it to a full size field.

The Royals will be without ten (TEN!) players for their series in Toronto this weekend, including Benintendi and Merrifield. Their depth chart is affected as such:

Entire starting outfield and a backup outfielder
Utility player
Two starting pitchers with the lowest ERA, though only one will have his scheduled start skipped
A reliever

So they’ll essentially be fielding a Triple A team this weekend. Whit Merrifield actually said he would get vaxxed if KC was better, saying if he was on a team that was going to Toronto for playoff games he would reconsider his decision.

They'd be fined for this lineup if it was Spring Training...
