Oh come on. “You don’t matter” is a hyperbolic statement made in the heat of the moment. Read the next sentence for what lugnut really meant.

Of course he matters. He matters so much that the one thing in the world he cannot do is get picked off first base. The lead should be short enough that Uehara doesn’t even think about throwing to first, so that even if Wong’s foot is on a banana peel, he doesn’t get picked off.

And yes, you do change the way you play the game. The two run, as opposed to one run, lead made all the difference in the world.

Where are the bats. Seriously, we have the best average with RISP ever in the regular season and we can't score to save our lives when it counts.

I think Ortiz may be hogging all the offense.
