Yankees reportedly sign Tanaka for $155/7 with an opt out after 4.

Part of me now wants ARoid to win.

not mad, just thought cashman's goal when he had a power struggle years ago was to get away from this style and produce more homegrown talent. i just think the guy's overrated.

You're correct there. That was the idea, but for whatever reason the Yankees can't draft well at all. Phil Hughes is probably our best 1st round pick in the past decade, and sure, he had a couple good years, but overall he wasn't that great of a pick.

The farm system isn't heavily stocked with top prospects, but there are a handful of guys who probably have a good chance to be productive in the big league. However, the signings made have covered up most of those positions for several more years.

It's a game of cat and mouse, the Yankees are firmly implanted in the "Win Now" mentality, so they keep reloading with free agents as opposed to giving their prospects a chance to develop and shine in the Bronx. It is what it is, to me.
