Re: MLB 2013 - This Bud's for you!

Whoa!

Three way deal involving both Sox and the Tigers. Red Sox get Peavy, Tigers get Iglesias :(, and maybe Garcia from Detroit to Chicago.

Bring that over to the Tiger thread, please.

Taking a note from the gub'ment, I see, and releasing bad news on a Fri, so people have the weekend to forget about it...

Re: MLB 2013 - This Bud's for you!

Where's the bad news in suspending cronic d-bag cheaters?

There are apologists out there, etc. And having drugs in the sport in the first place is bad enough, despite the good news of certain people getting caught.

Some fans point out how much this will impact the pennant races. A lot of these players facing suspension are on teams in the mix for a playoff spot or even a World Series contender. You are now taking marquee players out of their lineup. This will impact the bottom line as fans may not want to come out to see a game without as much star power. On the other hand, it would blow if you are winning Game 7 of the ALCS 4-2 and then Nelson Cruz uses his steroid-enlarged muscles to hit a three run bomb to send the Rangers to the World Series.

Also, don't let MLB fool you. This isn't coming as a result of their testing. This is coming IN SPITE of their testing. These guys are passing the MLB tests. It just so happens that this fell into the lap of MLB and they can't ignore it. If anything, it points out how inadequate the testing is (maybe by design).

The bad news, as I see it, is that they're selectively targeting a few unpopular players while seemingly not doing much to find the other clinics that must be out there.

That's an issue with MLB's stupidity when it comes to this whole topic. That bad part does not make the fact that they actually are punnishing some of the offenders a bad thing. They're separate issues.

God bless Harold Reynolds.

"We don't need to listen to Hawk right now"....as MLB Network cuts in to the Tribe-White Sox game in the bottom of the 9th.

And guess what? We're listening to Hawk right now.

McPaper reporting that MLB is preparing to drop a lifetime ban on A-Rod.

On one hand, good for MLB. Straight out banning a star. On the other hand...downslide star, NYY don't want to pay a now oft-injured player....the move seems to be mostly symbolic. If they had banned Braun for life, however...imagine THAT statement.

And you probably could have gotten Brewers fans to go along with it. He is in Chris Benoit territory right now.

I don't like the idea of letting the team off the hook either. I think that the teams are somewhat responsible along with the player. I wish there was a way to punish the teams that are enablers for this behavior as well.

Re: MLB 2013 - This Bud's for you!

Apparently A-Rod's discussions with MLB regarding his impending suspension are now stalled.
