There's an average of ~2 no-hitters per year. Each team plays 162 games. On a day when all teams are in action, theres roughly a 1/80 chance of a no-on a given day.

If you think pitchers have benefited from increased steroid testing and/or that the increased number of no hitters over the last decade will continue, and then take into account the house's cut, 40:1 is low, but probably not as much as some would think. It's not a 100:1 shot, for instance.

I'm not saying I'd take that bet, especially for $ 400, I'm just saying it's not as grossly unjust as it might appear at first glance.

The Twins won a series against the Yankees in New York for the first time since 2001. Obviously, they should be buyers before the deadline.

The Red Sox sent out an invite to long time season ticket holders (of which my dad is one) to come to the EMC club to watch the All Star game. Free buffet, free parking, and the World Series trophies will be there for photo ops. I'm going with my dad. Could care less about the game but I am happy to get a chance for my dad to see the World Series trophies up close and get a picture.

I'm waiting for one of these kids to get maimed shagging flies in the outfield. Some little kid + a line drive = a dent in some 8 year old's skull.

Was nice to see Cuddyer put up 15 HRs last night and finish 3rd. Cespedes was pretty awesome.

That's not one of the better places to take one if you're going to get hit. That sounded like that hit a brace.

This is cool for Mariano Rivera, although I'm surprised it's in the 8th inning.

That Goldschmidt hit reminded me of the World Series 2 years ago, when Nelson Cruz had a chance to make the final out but it went over his head. This play would've been harder, but still -- Dude, DIVE for it! Sacrifice your body, man! It's for the glory!!!
