Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

It looks like I will be in Atlanta for work next week, and I have to fly in on Sunday morning. So I'm planning on going to the Braves-Nationals game Sunday afternoon. Anyone have any suggestions for seeing a game in Atlanta, must have ballpark food, etc?

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

first place Pittsburgh Pirates

Jeff Karstens is the man.

Good Fantasy League pickup :)

I said in June or July last year I'd take the Pirates lineup over the Mets any day of the week and now they're starting to really turn heads this year. I'm certainly rooting for them.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

JJ Hardy is worth 7 million a year?
In reality no...but in MLB world, yes...When healthy he probably is worth that compared to Jeter ($22.6 million in 2010), Renteria ($10 mil), Furcal ($9.5 mil), Reyes ($9.375 mil), Julio Lugo ($9.25 mil), Rollins ($8.5 mil), Guzman ($8 mil), Hanley Ramirez ($7 mil). I mean JJ made $5.1 mil in 2010.

Just remember that alot of those names lower on the list have never been Free Agents...

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

So, MC Hammer is in the booth of the Athletics-Angels game. Evidently he was a ball boy for the A's back in the day.

Talk about damning with faint praise. ;)

The Mets lineup features Scott Hairston, Ronny Paulino, Justin Turner, Reuben Tejada, and Nick Evans.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

In case anyone missed it, MLB Extra Innings has a free preview going on right now until July 20 (it started on the 14th).

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

It is hilarious seeing ESPN try to explain Halladay's removal in today's game. Dude was probably borderline heat exhaustion, maybe stroke. You could see it in his eyes. He was out of it. This humidity/heat drains you like nothing you ever experienced before. It just takes you OUT. I may or may not have had heat stroke before (never went to the hospital, but by all accounts of my symptoms, it was probable). Have had heat exhaustion, and of course due to my job, I work in heat like this quite often.

I know that look that Halladay had. He should have come out of the game sooner.

A couple articles from SI that I enjoyed -

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

Trade deadline week. This should be interesting. I think the Indians and Pirates especially need to make a move.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

The Mets have a number of useful pieces for other teams (Byrdak as a LOOGY, Isringhausen as a set-up, and of course Beltran). This will be Alderson's first trade deadline with us, and the fans except him to walk on water. We'll see.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

The Cubs have their first winning streak of the year, becoming the last team in the majors to win 3 games in a row this season.
