MLB 2010: The Second Half

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Let's have this foolish argument again.
Which argument is that? The media was all butt hurt about steroid use and now they are still following the guy around like #600 means something to them.

They should make up their minds if they are upset about it or not. Or maybe they will selectively show their dislike for it when HoF voting comes around like I am sure they are going to do for Barry Bonds. If he ever retires that is.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Besides, dirty, I'm in Grand Forks. Which could also be confused as being hell pretty easily.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

I see it more like being flat, under water and on fire at the same time.

It's not underwater anymore. They built fake cliffs to stop that from happening. The real hell is Fargo where they can't figure out how to build fake cliffs so it's always underwater and on fire.

What do you expect from Bison fans, Dirty?

The media taking a principled side and sticking with it? Are you high?

Everyone swallowed their notebooks for a decade. The boys didn't start shooting needles into their asses when they found the andro in McGwire's locker. Brady Anderson didn't hit 50 homers in a year on Kraft Macaroni & Cheese. This **** was going on for a decade or so before they found Mark's little brown bag. They follow the sexy story in sports for as long as it is fashionable and swallow their notebooks in the process.

Now that all the homer records have been obliterated repeatedly, and the fans in general got bored with it, now all of a sudden we've got a steroid issue? Really? Now we're take a stand? No, media knuckleheads. You were complicit in the whole sham. Of course, they won't wear a bit of it.

And then Mark gave up the andro and still jacked HR's. Now in hindsight, he still might have been taking HGH, making the andro thing kind of pointless; more of a symbolic gesture.

I only say "might" because it's yet to be proven, but you all can probably guess what I think.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

And then Mark gave up the andro and still jacked HR's.

And two years after hitting 65 in 1999, he was out of baseball at 37. He had a 3 year run in the prime of his career (1989-1991, ages 25-27) where he hit .231-.235-.201, and didn't slug .500 in any of those years.

You don't see too many guys with twice as many doubles as HR's. Something was obviously wrong, and he later admitted it. It's probably going to cost him, too.

Bonds, Sosa, and Palmeiro had no such power outages during their careers, although Sosa's career essentially ended at 36, although he did play one more season two years later. That's young for superstars, at least by today's standards. And Bonds' numbers from 1992-2005 are just bat**** ridiculous, and I think we know why part of that is the case.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Seems odd that ESPN is breaking in to programming to show A-Rod trying for 600. He admitted to steroid use, doesn't that sort of invalidate his numbers?

Man how I wish Ken Griffey Jr. would of stayed healthy.

He might be the only steroid user that gets into the hall. Especially the way Palmiero and McGuire's numbers looked on the last ballot.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

It was hilarious this morning listening to Mike and Mike talking about the close play at first base with ARod on deck.

It was VERY clear that it had everything to do with ARod coming up to the plate rather than the fact that whocareswho was safe.

It was a very close play and replay did show he was safe but plays like this happen all the time. No big deal. They even happen to close out games. No big deal...unless the player on deck happens to be sitting on 599 career homers and is ESPNs face of baseball.

Yeah there was a bad call on a very close play.

But it was entertaining to see Mike (which one I don't care) get his panties all knotted up over it.

Am I the only one who thought the Andro thing was a front? He had it in his locker, right out in front, for all to see. It was legal for him to take at the time, so he made sure every reporter knew that's what he was taking. Great away to diffuse the situation right at the start.

"Wow, Big Mac is crushing the ball! I wonder if he's...oh, it's just Andro. Nevermind."
