Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

I dislike the Twins but... wha? Dick and Bert are fantastic commentators, research or not.
The problem with Dick/Bert and really most Minnesota broadcast teams is that they chat too much. I don't need all the extra chatter not related to the play at hand.

I don't care when Bert's birthday is, what the retarded rules for trivia is or any of the other inane crap they talk about.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Don't be insulting: No one is as bad as the Brown radio team.

Maybe. He's a nice guy at least. :)

Expecting a home town broadcast team to not have bias or be biased is an insane request.

the phillies are so bad the cubs just mercifully pulled a double switch while they were batting to bring in a new pitcher and let him hit with 2 outs.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

I strongly suspect that Darling was dumbing it down for the national audience; he's an excellent analyst during Mets games.

What kind of odds would you have gotten, at the start of the season, on the prop bet "Jim Thome and Bengie Molina will both hit for the cycle this year"?

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

When you watch the highlights tonight, you might not want to look at a certain DET-TEX highlight where the Rangers pitcher takes a liner off the melon.

I highly doubt it. He went way past dumb. He was clearly into legally retarded territory. He only spoke of Mauer and had ZERO to add about him or any analysis. Bert and the play-by-play guy (I can never remember his name) that work on Fox Saturdays don't dumb it down. Darling is terrible on a national level.

Jim Thome ... hit for the cycle this year

Did I miss this...?

It was better than I thought it would be. And thankfully he walked off under his own power. Still very scary, though.

And I know Thome had a triple this year, but I don't think he hit for the cycle that game, and let's face it, Thome never hits triples.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Ah, this makes sense then. I was reading the article about Molina's cycle, it said something about Thome also having a triple, and I thought it said Thome also hit for the cycle.

Yeah, but with thome getting a triple, I have no problem with people rounding that up to a cycle. Pretty much the same thing for thome.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Torii Hunter once told Jim Rome that he didn't wear a cup because, and I quote: "Naw, man. I got too much down there."

/shakes head

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

John Lackey is having a pretty good night.

And that's despite having given up a run to Milton Bradley who walked, stole second, reached third on a sac grounder, then scored on a passed ball.

ETA: Ding, fries are done. Josh Bard. One more for my score!
