Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Cmon. Those sliders can be a few mph faster ;)

It was clear that he was tiring :). This game was on Fox, so I'm not sure how much I believe the radar gun readings. That being said he was hitting 105 earlier in the week.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

From what I saw he threw 4 pitches under 100. Two were fastballs at 99 and two were sliders at 88.
That's always my favorite thing about guys who throw really hard, is that their breaking pitches are as fast as some guys' fastballs.

Ya, Dave Bush threw an 85 MPH fastball tonight. Chapman's slider bottomed out at 88.

Is it just me, or does it sound like he's yelling "blasphemy" just after Morgan gets clocked? They must really worship Nyjer Morgan in Japan.

That's audio from a pro wrestling match in Japan dubbed over the video. You can tell because there's a three count followed by the bell ringing starting at about the 10 second mark. I only know this because in Japan they call a clothesline by yelling "LARIAT-OOOO!!!!!!"

No, you know this because you're a huge loser.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

this is from a couple weeks ago, <a href="http://voices.washingtonpost.com/nationalsjournal/2010/08/stan_kasten_on_rob_dibbles_two.html">but still funny.</a> :)

In the wake of controversial comments he made regarding Stephen Strasburg on his Sirius XM radio show, MASN analyst Rob Dibble will not work tonight's game or tomorrow's game.

Several MASN employees were not certain why Dibble will not work the next two games, but Nationals President Stan Kasten shed some light and perhaps gave a not-so-thinly-veiled opinion of Dibble's comments.

"Rob asked for some time off," Kasten said. "Perhaps he's not feeling well. But I'm not a doctor, nor have I seen his records. So I shouldn't say anything more about it."

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

This seems like the right thread to post this in. I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned this here, but I went to high school with Yogi Berra's granddaughter. As you might imagine, she often has amusing stories about her grandfather. She posted this on Facebook today:
Grampa, for the first time in his 85 years, has begun eating lunch, and evidently expects my Gram to adjust her very busy daytime schedule to make it for him. Gram, who is not very happy about this development, has taken a stand. "I married you for better or worse, but not for lunch," she said. "I'm going out!" Ha!
Yep, I'd imagine you don't stay married to Yogi Berra for decades without a sense of humor. :D

Rockies just stole home to take the lead 6-5 in a game they trailed 5-0 to the Reds. Crazy.

Bot 8th.

ETA: Rockies win.

Just overheard on MLB Radio, during the ATL-STL game:

"That's a good way to describe McCann's period."

You beat me to it. I was gonna mention this. Just a very cool way to win a ball game. Only thing I can think of that was more cool was Yovanni Gallardo's solo shot to beat, I think it was the Pirates, 1-0 last year.
