Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Why would you feel bad for him? Ryan's group had lined up to buy the team before the bankruptcy filing and ensuing auction.

Ryan was going to get this team anyway. MLB had the right to appove the 2nd highest bidder at the end of the auction.

Because he clearly wants a team and was willing to put up more money (apparently to a point as he wasn't the highest bidder at the end of the auction, but was for quite awhile) to do so. The latter part of your post is the reason I feel bad. No matter what, he wasn't getting the team.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Eh, but still, I can't bring myself to feel THAT bad for him. He can go home and swim in his money bin to console himself. :p

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Yes. I believe that it's the old Thunderdome.

It is. It's the stadium they almost lured the Giants to move to before they built PacBell/AT&T/Whatever Corporate Name Stadium they have now. Crazy that the Lightning used to play there though.

Twins win in very interesting fashion this afternoon. Go Tigers! ;)

Hmm, Tigers tie it up on a 3-run HR in the ninth. Interesting...

Wish I could find better pictures to see what it was like.

An owner like Mark Cuban would be a breath of fresh air into MLB. Which is why he will never be approved as a baseball owner no matter what he does.

Say what you will for the Mavs, but you know Cuban wants to win more than anything. Also, I believe he did some things to make the game more enjoyable for the fans.

I doubt that MLB would want another owner that start bonfires with a pile of 100 dollar bills and not think anything of it. That'd be "bad for business" and what not... No matter how bogus it is.

I hope Cubes makes a run at buying the Dallas Stars but I don't think he will.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Fair ball and if it somehow went around the third base bag completely...I sincerely doubt that was the case. Davidson saw the replay and claims he is still right. The arrogance of some of these umpires is astounding.

I'm sure he'll be reprimanded heavily for both being an arrogant arse and for getting the call completely wrong.

Wait, what am I saying, he'll get a bonus from Bud because he's terrified of the umpires union.

Robot umpires can't come soon enough.

This is all the more reason to respect Jim Joyce. He realized as soon as he saw the tape that he blew it and he felt terrible about it. That's an all too rare reaction among some of these fat clowns.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

I am ok with umps apologizing for a missed call here and there, but I don't want to hear one every week.

They need to stop missing calls that are fairly obvious. Apologies don't make up for the call.

Bingo. "Sorry" only covers so much and in the case of this dope in blue he didn't even apologize. Being bad at your job doesn't make you any more sympathetic. Turn around and watch the ball.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

That reminds me of the joke Vlad Guerrero made while still in Montreal. He was asked about an at bat where he fouled off about 8-10 pitches. His response: "I was trying to hit one to everybody in attendance."
