From a buddy's house, earlier this afternoon:

Funnel cloud reported near Maple Grove on 169.

Gust front is w/in 10 miles of you Brent.

The 494 corridor is now under a warning until 9:15 (southern hennepin, northern dakota, southern ramsey, northeastern carver, northeastern scott).

See my post. :p

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Sirens going crazy right now. Yeah, the sh*storm is hitting. I love it. Maple Grove is getting its arse kicked right now. Branches across the road, windshield wipers are useless, and the rain is horizontal (drivers pulling to the side of the road).

Anoka tornado now.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

I was posting a lot of other stuff at the same time that you posted that (in particular, the issuance of warnings for all those counties). :p

Tornado in Anoka.

I'm leaving my car parked outside - this will be a free carwash as long as no debris hits it.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

If you're in Crystal, Maple Grove, Anoka areas......you're getting your arse kicked.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Wow.

Sorry nature is being a (feminine personal hygiene product) to you, Twin Cities.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

St Michael, the sun is out, according to bro. This is going through the whole metro area in less than 15 minutes.

I live just north of Anoka (a mile or so, maybe 2) and it was eerie for a while. I was standing outside as everything was rolling into town and it was dead still and silent (minus the sirens). Then as if I snapped my fingers, the wind was blowing like crazy and the rain was coming down in sheets.

I heard about the Anoka tornado but I guess I haven't heard what part of Anoka yet.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Most inept: Colorado. Not even a contest. The speed limit on I-25 is 75. You're lucky if you're going 60. All they know how to do is crowd around trucks and form nice rolling roadblocks. And don't even start me on their habit of slamming on the brakes in the fast lane to dive across for their exit.

Most insane: Georgia had some insane ones - I was doing 85 in the left lane and still getting passed on the right. Leaving the country, Ontario drivers are pretty nuts as well.

You forgot about the inherent need to slow down to 10 mph on I-25 if there is anything at all out of the ordinary anywhere. All of which, native Coloradans of course blame on the Californians and Texans.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

it got pretty close to us. saw a report of a tornado in dayton about 2 miles west of our house. we were at a friend's townhouse on the coon rapids/andover border when the sirens started going off. we all decided to go to our place since they don't have any good shelter in their place. we walked in the door as it was being reported in rogers. as soon as we were in the door, the rain started pouring as hard as we have ever seen.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Which side of the metro are you on?

610 and Noble. Despite weather warngins that seemed to plant tornados all around us that evening, all we had was very strong wind and obviously heavy rain. I had to drive half a mile to the south the next morning before I saw a downed tree - we were very, very lucky.

I know about where that is. Lots of open space, which is usually not good.

I've always thought this scene from Fargo was particularly funny since it's obviously "warm" outside - melting snow and puddles all around - and the trooper and old guy have their heavy coats and hoods up. Anyone who's been here for five minutes knows that if it's that warm (even the mid 30's) most folks will practically be wearing shorts, let alone not putting their hoods up...

I concur with this. You know its bad when the state has to go back as make a law that specifically states that the left lane is for passing only. I used to drive from Denver to Colorado Springs and pass 95% of the cars while driving in the right lane.
