Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

I've always thought this scene from Fargo was particularly funny since it's obviously "warm" outside - melting snow and puddles all around - and the trooper and old guy have their heavy coats and hoods up. Anyone who's been here for five minutes knows that if it's that warm (even the mid 30's) most folks will practically be wearing shorts, let alone not putting their hoods up...
The first time the temperature approaches 40 at any point in the winter = "early spring". Nobody wears hats, and most people ditch their winter coats and wear windbreakers. :D

I never wear a hood. I have hoodies, and coats with hoods on them, but never put it up. Come to think of it, none of my friends do either. And yes, if there are puddles like that people are wearing sweatshirts and jeans.

And everyone's talking about the "heatwave"... :p

Cripes, I think business at the DQ's that are open all year picks up dramatically in weather like that.

And we travel with windows down.

Hell, last F5, that Sunday was around 45 or so, and people were utilizing the unheated outdoor patio at one of the restaurants.....sans coats. :D

Nothing tastes better than a Blizzard when it hits 40 degrees, and I definitely roll the window down when it gets that warm.

I used to work at a DQ. ANd I swear to you, outside of the dog days of summer, the busiest times were during a f*king snow storm.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

had some wild weather roll thru to the south of me here, collapsed a roof in a grocery store in Hudson, Michigan. Under a flash flood watch till 8 am, and a Tornado watch til 3 am. Not really anything going on right now here though other than some really high level lightning going on in some cloud tops well to the north of us here.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Hot and humid weather is returning to MN today - and so too is the risk of severe weather. Small clusters of storms have blasted through parts of the northern section of the state with a 70+ mph wind gust reported in the Fargo-Moorhead area early this morning.

This afternoon, the primary focus of severe weather development appears to be lining up in a SW-NE line over the eastern portion of the state. The SPC is concerned about the potential for strong tornadoes in any discrete cells that develop over eastern MN and northwestern WI due to the strong sheer combining with a very unstable atmosphere:

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

It was really bizarre (Kiawah) here yesterday, some big storms popped up all around the island but the offshore wind was so strong the storms couldn't penetrate the coast and head to sea. Dark clouds, thunder & lighting, and rain all around us but nothing on the island but a few drops.
