Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Where are you seeing that data? It looks to me like the dewpoints are going to stay down quite a bit for Friday and Saturday. Maybe you're seeing a different source than I am.
My info comes from the Paul Douglas blog on the strib site + the forecast discussions from the Chanhassen office of the NWS.

The following is from the latest NWS discussion, issued early this morning; I've put the key parts in bold text (apologize in advance for the all-caps, but that's how they do things there):

AMPLIFYING UPPER AIR PATTERN SETS UP FOR FRIDAY AND SATURDAY AHEAD
OF VERY STRONG UPPER TROF IN NW U.S./BC. THIS ALLOWS THE FRONT IN
IOWA TO SURGE BACK NORTH AGAIN TOWARD S MN FRIDAY AND INTO S OR
PERHAPS CNTRL MN ON SATURDAY. HEAT AND HUMIDITY MAKE A RAPID RETURN
WITH HEAT INDEX BACK UP INTO THE 100 DEGREE RANGE IN S MN FRIDAY AND
SATURDAY.

BUMPED UP POPS FOR FRIDAY NIGHT ACROSS AREA WITH STRONG UPPER
DIVERGENCE IN RRQ OF UPPER JET TRANSVERSING THE AREA AND VERY STRONG
INSTABILITY. LOOKS LIKE A PRETTY GOOD SETUP FOR POSSIBLE HEAVY
RAINS WITH 45 KT LLJ OVERRUNNING WARM FRONT ACROSS S MN.
IMPRESSIVE
ELEVATED INSTABILITY WITH 850 MB LIFTED INDEX VALUES IN B8 RANGE.

SATURDAY LOOKS LIKE A SEVERE THREAT AS STRONG NEGATIVELY TILTED
UPPER TROF ROTATES ACROSS AREA.

Yeah, it appears that way.

Rice Creek, at a location very near that bridge, is one of our sample points as part of a metro water quality and bacteria study. A sample from that day would have shown some interesting concentrations of some interesting substances :)

Corn and diesel fuel aren't that interesting.:p

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

That's because, as a resident of Edina, Perrier comes out of your tap. :)

Actually, I wish. Edina city water is legendary for being super hard. It does come from a fairly deep aquafer though so no corn or diesel fuel in it. The city does over-chlorinate it though in my view so we filter our drinking water as well as soften all of it.

Good Morning, Minnesota!

That is a nice line of storms. Going to storm later tonight which is already making the tournament I am caddying in and the party I am going to tonight interesting...

The Aquatennial Fireworks were great...until the monsoon hit ;)

Some of us GPLers were at Town Hall Brewery. It teased for a bit, then boomroasteddownpour. Of course, anyone with a smartphone in the bar checked their smartphones to look at the weather radar. :D

We all laughed at the U2 attendees, too. "Yay, $300 and I'm gonna be in the front row! Wheeee!" Oops. I didn't leave during the first lull in the rain, and that was a mistake. An hour later or so, a second lull happened, and I booked. Wise choice. Missed the concert crowd, and could sorta see on the drive home.

That would explain why I randomly saw fireworks in the distance while driving down University Ave to 694...

U2 concert, Aquatenniel fireworks, Twins game this afternoon (and many stayed in the area post-game)...

Traffic was lovely.

We laughed at the U2 people too. We also got soaked at Country Jam, but we only paid 50 for 5 shows which included Zac Brown who is much better than U2. :D

We were at 7 Corners, so we could hear the concert. And it was torrential downpour. There were puddles on the street a few inches deep.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

So that was a pretty good t-storm here in downtown as viewed from the 24th floor. Was a little concerned about the galss holding as it vibrated away.
