Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Try 5 hours carrying two golf bags. Luckily I had plenty of water and food to survive.

9.5 hours in un-A/Ced warehouse. Tossing 20#-50#+ boxes of paper, motors, etc. In jeans. Try again, scooter. :p

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Wow. It got dark all of a sudden, and now the house is shaking from thunder. Been a while since I have seen a storm that is heading the direction this one is. Nearly straight south.

Looks like CR is in the crosshairs. Pounding Andover , Ham Lake, and Dayton right now.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

A supercell is currently bearing down on the twin cities - 70 mph winds and quarter-size hail are possible.

Anoka, eastern Hennepin, and Ramsey counties are all in line to get hit. Later on, for the southern metro, it looks like points west of 35E will be spared while points east will get hit.

I believe this is the same supercell that rolled through Fargo at 4 a.m. this morning. It's managed to maintain its intensity moving ESE across the state - and as it approached the Brainerd area, it took a turn more to the SE - and as it passed to the east of St. Cloud, it apparently took an even more pronounced right turn.

I have heard the storms that turn right can do some damage. But, this is just a ton of rain up here right now. Lots of lightning, and some good gusts, but mostly a downpour. Evidently this thing has been producing roughly two inches an hour lately.

Good Grief, I hope that can hold together and reach Madison/Verona sometime today. We are bone-dry here! I'm getting tired of pouring good city water on my veggies.

Edit - Not the wind and hail, just the rain please!

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Someone reporting a funnel in Maple Grove, no tornado warnings as of now though. There is a hook echo over in that area, drifting into Crystal/Hew Hope now.

Clouds top out at 65,000'.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

That'd be the protrusion I saw on the SW flank of the storm a few minutes ago.

And 2"? What is this, some kind of Asian storm? :p

Trajectory would not take this thing anywhere near Madison - it'll probably head down the St. Croix after hitting the eastern half of the twin cities.

Per KSTP: storm top is now 70,000 feet.

Sirens are going off in the SE metro.

So that's why it was so dark! 70,000 feet will do that.

The skies here in Crystal looked similar to a funnel cloud or at least a wall cloud for a while. But it ended up just raining with some thunder and lightening. Nothing too crazy.

Okay, you don't have the sun beating down on you :)

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

That little disturbance looks like it dropped the temps about 10 dgerees cooler than forecast. Hope that holds through the day (though I doubt it). It shows 81 now while 91 was forecast for 2 PM. I wouldn't mind if my kid plays his soccer match in 86 degrees versus 96 tonight.

Doesn't matter; it withered in the heat after it left the MSP area.

Twas a hell of a theory..... :)

I'd rather have that + air movement/fresh air than beyond-still, stale air contained in a giant concrete building. With slightly warmer temps/heat index.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

I am spending the week working in the frozen departments. Lots of time in the walk-in freezers. They are usually kept around -20 or so. :)

Well ya gotta have hope. Game was delayed an hour then canceled. Heat index of 112, they won't start unless it's under 105. Talk of rescheduling for tomorrow when it's supposed to be even hotter. During the delay we went across the road to the Park Tavern and Lanes, plenty cool in there...

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

That ****ing storm knocked out power here for 3 hours thanks to a cloud-to-ground lightning strike.
