Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Twas dark in Plymouth when the storm came through, but not a drop of rain.

Depends where in Plymouth. I was very close to 494/55, and it was cloudy (normal cloudy) and then sun. However, our other branch (assuming you've heard the commercials and have an idea of who I work for) had its power knocked out for a bit, and our driver said it was horrendous rain for a short time. He couldn't believe it. It was really localized.

The IDS Tower Crystal Court's roof was leaking again. The roof leaks in the same places every dam time of every damm year I've worked downtown. You'd think they could figure out how to fix it.

Probably not "cost-effective." We have leaks in our warehouse, also, but only if it rains super-hard, which is rare, so they don't bother.

How are the Twins going to do this year? :)

I'm also at 494 and 55, though opposite side of where you're at. I'm right next to Axel's. Clouds, looked like it would pour, then the sun.

Believe me, with my still semi-new car in the parking lot, I was happy to miss out on the hail.

The Twins are gonna win the division, goshdarnit!

And while a vinyl top has some give, I'm also happy to avoid any hail. It looked like it might have rained, but not like the others have described it. Still surprised our system didn't crash or power has gone out, as it is wont to do during spells like this. Heard rumors that Ridgedale lost power last night around dinnertime (5-6ish pm). Haven't confirmed, though.

I'm sure the Fridley Cub Foods had a lake in the produce dept. again. That building blows.

Hopefully the rains today didn't set them too far back on repairing that rail line.

Good luck with that. As a volunteer for the Salvation Army, my dad said it was a mess. He was out there last Saturday.

Yeah, it appears that way.

So there is a way to make that store even crappier :)

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Apparently, the dewpoint hit an astonishing 88 degrees in Moorhead yesterday (sending the heat index at the time over 130ºF). I don't believe either mark has ever been topped in state history. For those who are curious, the official high water mark at the airport yesterday in Minneapolis was 82 (hourly reading). Between hourly readings, the peak dewpoint was 84, but for procedural reasons, it looks like the official one of record will be 82 degrees.

Thankfully, a cold front will push through tonight and scour out most of the humidity so tomorrow will be quite comfortable (but still warm with a high pushing 90). Of course, the trade-off for this is a risk of severe weather this afternoon and evening if anything manages to bust through the cap.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Some of the Mpls area weather stations are showing the dewpoint dropped quite a bit this morning and is a bit lower than yesterday at midday (around 70-72 now). Pressure is also slowly dropping in advance of that front. Hope it gets here soon.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Currently in Cake-Eater Land:

Temp: 81
Dew Point: 71
Feels like: 85

It honestly feels chilly. I have my windows wide open, and am enjoying a fall-like evening. :D

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Yesterday was not as bad as Monday or Tuesday. Today is going to be beautiful! Thank you cold front. Although thunderstorms would have been fun...

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Friday-Saturday will be **** again (though the air temperature won't be quite as high).

This time around, a strong upper air disturbance will be moving through sometime this weekend, and that means there's definitely going to be a risk of severe weather (upper air dynamics + juiced atmosphere = bad).

Where are you seeing that data? It looks to me like the dewpoints are going to stay down quite a bit for Friday and Saturday. Maybe you're seeing a different source than I am.
