Minnesotans Arguing About the Weather IV: Niño or Niña, My Joints Stopped Trying

I got caught in a cloudburst a few hours ago.

2.6 inches of rain fell in a very short period of time in little Canada and maplewood.

not forecasted at all

Last time I had one we got 4-5" in under an hour. It had completely flooded my backyard beyond the normal stream that collects from the neighborhood. It was actually quite frightening as I watched it get closer to the foundation.

The streets completely flooded, there were "wakes" forming from the cracks in the curbs where the water was flowing. Came up 4+ inches off the pavement.

It's perfectly 83F, partly cloudy with low humidity here on Borocay. Sipping on a MacCallen 12 before heading back for a short nap before dinner. I should have bought that bar on Koh Samui 25 years ago when I had the chance.

Sounds like this weekend are going to be horribly humid. Long-term models put near-80F dewpoints throughout Iowa and Minnesota.

Each day this week has had sunshine and lollipops forecasted. Each day this week has proved the forecasts wrong.

The rain coming down has the gutters looking like a river outside my house. It’s been raining for 5 minutes.

Yay. We got a nice solid soaking rain overnight. Steady .125 in/hr over 4 hours. The flowers and grass will appreciate that.
