Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

First triple.
First Friday game.

Now lets go for one tomorrow, will Joe Mauer play his first day game after a night game at Target Field?
So, did Joe get any hits tonight, or is time to trade him? :)

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

Makes you realize what a fun suck of a dump the dome was, eh?
The old Met wasn't a great stadium, and the Twins weren't that good when I saw most of my outdoor games in '80 and '81. But sitting in the stands on a warm summer night was an experience that the Dome just couldn't match. Sunny day games are great as well, although some of the "scenery" can get kind of distracting.

Moved up from 9 no less. Kind of surprised they were so low to being with.
I saw a national rag that predicted the Twins to finish 80-82 before the season started. Perhaps the national perception is formed more by watching the Twins pee down their legs against the Yankees than what they did in September.

This is a team that if it avoids Wild-like injury plagues, is good enough to overcome slumps like that of Span, Thome and Hudson, as well as the ones Punto and Kubel had before their recent better play because there is more talent in the lineup, on the bench and in the rotation than in a long time.
I think that you hit the nail on the head regarding injury. Obviously, they can't afford to be w/o Mauer for any length of time. Redmond took a lot of heat, but at least we weren't going to lose games because of him being in the lineup. I bet he helps the Tribe. Hopefully, our backup catchers can prove to be solid, and are able to remain guys who play 1 or 2 times a week. I'm also concerned about what we have to back up Span. Center field in Target Field looks rather spacious for the likes of Cuddyer to cover. The big plus from recent years is that we aren't starting the season with a couple of creaky guys with nothing left in the starting rotation or infield while the organization hopes for someone to emerge from the minors.

Delmon was raking all night...but Podsednick was freaking everywhere!
I could turn out to be all wrong on Young. The weight loss is a good sign that maybe he takes this more seriously than comes across in his mannerisms. What has impressed me is that he is putting more good swings on the ball and is driving it to left, something we seldom saw over the last couple of years.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

The Royals are friggin putrid and Greinke is less than impressive so far this year.

BTW I found a secret to getting Kramramadingdong sausages without having to wait in line...it was quite good although I have had better. :D

BTW one bad thing about outdoor baseball...when it is cold and one team cant get the other out to save their lives! The bottom of the 8th was friggin brutal!

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

Cross the Hennepin Ave bridge after the game? :)

Nope (well yeah that too!) but during the game IN the stadium. Not worth the $6.50 imho next time I will try the ones at Halsy Halls :D

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

Thome should be arrested for murder...He killed that ball!

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

Q: Whats the value of a sinker ball pitcher whose pitches dont sink?
A: Zero...

Blackburn has been pretty horrible today :(

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

O-Hudzy hit that ball a friggin ton!

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

Didn't like Blackburn's performance today, but the stadium is the bomb and I hope I can get back several more times this year.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

I don't care if Thome doesn't hit another single homerun for the twins this year, just as long as he ISN'T bombs like the one today AGAINST us like he has in the past. man did he crush that one to center.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

and yet another bases loaded situation with no runs scored.

Morneau this year is 0-4 with a walk with the bases loaded.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

Bases loaded for Kubel in the 8th. 7-3 Royals right now. 3rd time the Twins have had the bases loaded in this game.
