Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

I have already gone on record as saying this team will win the AL...yes I am serious!

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

I like what we've seen from the starting pitcher too. They did just win a series against the Red Sox with their 3-4-5 starting pitchers starting.

Moonshot Scott still scares me a bit, but otherwise I agree. Especially if Liriano pitches like he did today.

Way to go out on a limb...:p

It's not the winning the division, it's getting further along in the playoffs....:o

Winning the AL means going to the World Series, its a pretty bold prediction. :p
Not that I disagree with it...

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

Reading has never been your strong suit :p

Usually, you are correct. Not this time. Actually was distracted by a phone call from a buddy who's spent 2 of the last 3 weeks in the hospital. :(

The team has got the potential. Besides the offense, how many errors have they made? Is it just 1?

It'll be a fun summer.

Not only do they only have 1 error, but they have the 4th best ERA in all of MLB. This is a team that if it avoids Wild-like injury plagues, is good enough to overcome slumps like that of Span, Thome and Hudson, as well as the ones Punto and Kubel had before their recent better play because there is more talent in the lineup, on the bench and in the rotation than in a long time. If Liriano and one other starter (my money is on Pavano, but possibly Slowey or Blackburn) develop into season-long/post-season bonafide 1 and 2 starters, they will be tough to beat.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

Pavano is the best bet, might not have the super stellar numbers but if he can eat a ton of innings and have an ERA in the 3s it could be quite a nice summer indeed :)

BTw Twins Season Tickets = 20% off at the Pro Shop = Handy buying another Jersey...this time the throwback alternate jersey :D

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

If Liriano was just teasing us yesterday I am going to be incredibly angry. The way he was dealing yesterday got me incredibly pumped.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

Well look at that, a bases loaded hit for the Twins. 2-0 good guys.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

That's the Baker we like to see. Not spending much time in the top half of the innings!

Oops, spoke too soon. With Scott Baker, I know better, too :o The Royals are getting to him here in the 5th and 6th :(

At least we picked up a couple in between: 4-2 now.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

10-3 Twins win. 7 strong innings from Moonshot Scott.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

Twins win the series opener against the Royals, and their first night game at Target Field, 10-3.

Interesting tonight that the Twins seemed to tag the ball pretty well, but it ended up being a F7, 8 or 9. A couple of the plays were pretty specacular (Posednick's rob of a Delmon fly down the line, in particular). The cool air might have helped hold the ball up? At least, that was my impresson watching the game on TV.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

I think all these firsts they bring up are funny.

More firsts tonight:
- night game after a day game
- night game to start a series
- night game before a day game
- night game when their record is 4+ games above .500
- night game where it didn't rain
- night game in which we scored 10+ runs
- night game against KC
- night game in April

Yeah, you get the picture. :D :p

Delmon was raking all night...but Podsednick was freaking everywhere!

First triple.
First Friday game.

Now lets go for one tomorrow, will Joe Mauer play his first day game after a night game at Target Field?
