Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

True but Slowey has been more consistent.

consistent refers to sometimes not being on your game. Which again would be outside the criteria set forth in his initial statement.

The assumption is that when comparing the pitching staff, they are at their best.

Fair enough. It's so rare with Liriano since he came back from injury that I bleeped over the semantics here. ;)

Semantics and Statistics can help me prove anything! :D

Hell I think Bill Clinton used semantics to not get impeached.

We can all just agree that JF_Gophers and I are correct. This point we will not argue. :D ;)

I see what you're saying, and I definitely should have worded my original statement differently. Consistency is important. Anyone can be a flash in the pan. If a pitcher comes out and throws a no-hitter in one game, but gets rocked the rest of the year, you could argue that when he was at his best, he was the best pitcher on the team, since none of the other pitchers threw a no-hitter. :D
Liriano had done NOTHING between his surgery and the start of this year to indicate he could be effective again. It looks as though he might have found his stuff (sorry if I jinx it) again, but until he can do it for more than 3-4 games at the MLB level, I won't get too excited.

Now I'm done. :p

If you put any stock in Winter league ball, Liriano was just as dominant as ever according to reports. He had an up and down spring training, but I think the signs are start to emerge he can at least regain some of the form that made him such a great pitcher in 2006. We'll know more tonight I suppose.

Redmond is getting the crap kicked outta him tonight.

Last inning gets a bat in the arm/back on a follow-through, this inning he takes a hard foul off the mask.

He's tough. He got beat to **** here, too. Hockey player mentality behind the plate. His interview in the Strib today he said something about always convincing his teammates to play through the pain :)

I know he didn't have a spot here, but I would have liked to see him stay for that fact alone.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

Frankie Franchise looked outstanding tonight.

That's another series win for the Twins, 5 in a row to start the season.

They won't keep playing like this all season, but it's fun to watch right now.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

I found an interesting blog post analyzing ratings data between NHL, MLB and NBA while reading From the Rink for playoff hockey news, and was very surprised to see the Twins television ratings in the local market fairing so well compared to other local markets. 9th overall in ratings and 10th overall in households. I'm thinking with Target Field and, most importantly, how much promise this team is showing this year, that rating should skyrocket in 2010 (data was for 2009).

As you'd expect the RedSox and Yankees take the top honors; teams like the Cleveland Cavelier and Penguins are obviously up there considering the star power. I was surprised to see the Tigers at 6th in ratings and 7th in households. Not surprising the Wild are down near the bottom this year and the T-wolves, as always, are laughable ;)

Good to see Liriano pitch so well again tonight. Need the series sweep tomorrow!

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

When a member of my immediate family (including myself) is at Target Field, the Twins lose. We're 0-2.

Who wants to pay us to stay away? :D

Good to see Moonshot Scott is already in mid-season form.
