Good thing the central division sucks.
I hear flushing sounds on the TV today.
Trade everyone. This team sucks.
So can I criticize Gardy for going to the bullpen for no reason or is that not allowed either?
edit: I dont care...Gardy blew this one big time.
Possible reason for rise in doubles and fall in HRs: he's now hitting in a pitcher's park for half his games.Of course you don't because nothing I said is really disputable...his numbers are down...it happensWhen great hitters slump they will get heat that is how it works. Even Ted Williams did

I read recently it has the fourth fewest homeruns in the majors this season.Plenty of other hitters seem capable of hitting dingers there. Before today it was mostly the opposition sadly.

Yep. And while HR's are nice, as long as his line drives are doubles and not cans of corn outs, I'm fine with it.

I agree, except let's take it one step further, let's just contract the whole team. We're not allowed to be optimists apparently.
Now who is playing the martyr?
And who isnt an optimist, I still have the team going to the Series and I am not joking unlike Brent![]()

Sad on the 3rd base side today section 124 row 33. Glorious seats and there were smiles everywhere from the pre-game flyover all the way up until the Burnett/Mijares/Guerrier meltdown.
My partials are in 105...3rd base side is awesome
Bakukin,
I can buy that except he isnt hitting them at home or on the road so it doesnt explain all his issues. Plus, his overall hitting is down so it makes sense most of his stats would drop.
Like I said, there is nothing wrong with him slumping it happens to everyone. There is also nothing wrong with some of us being concerned about it. It doesnt mean we dislike Mauer or wish bad things on him, just that we notice the issues. I take it a bit farther sometimes though to **** off the Apostles![]()
Let's not forget...
he's a CATCHER
I tend to think last season was a fluke.
I also think this team is a playoff team - but not a WS team unless they correct their major problems (i.e. they need a frontline starter to go with Liriano and Pavano, and a reliable setup man wouldn't hurt given Guerrier's struggles).
I told a friend of mine about this conversation, and the first thing he asked was "did some idiot say something stupid like 'he's a catcher' trying to defend Mauer?"
Your friend is an idiot for ignoring Mauer's position. Keep in mind that the typical catcher hits about 50 points lower, and his backup hits even worse than that. It's not like he plays OF or 1B where there's tons of guys hitting in the .280-.300 range and for power.I told a friend of mine about this conversation, and the first thing he asked was "did some idiot say something stupid like 'he's a catcher' trying to defend Mauer?"

A similar thing could be said of Jeter - the reason he gives the Yanks an advantage is that he's a SS who's a very good hitter - since that position is also typically horrible offensively. Imagine how much better the Twins lineup would be if Punto/Hardy/whoever was at short was hitting .300? As much as people love to rip on Punto for being terrible at the plate, it's not all that uncommon for a SS to be like that.
