Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

Or, Rauch.

The cracks are showing.

Drop the razor scooby. It gets old.

Kevin Gregg, everyone's darling that they were willing to sell the farm to get when Nathan went down only has one more save and one fewer BS. Ditto with Papelbon. Hell, his ERA is lower than both of theirs, lower than Feliz (in Texas), and is comparable to Soria.

Hey as long as Delmon Young keeps producing...I'm happy:cool:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but he's in a contract year, right?

Delmon is looking to get that mid-career long-term rich contract based on his numbers this year. The Twins will give it to him, and just watch what happens for the next several years. Enjoy him this year, because once he gets paid he'll just go back to the old version of Delmon Young, I guarantee it.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

They will most likely sign Delmon to a similar deal Denard got so as to avoid yearly arbitration problems. I know some people hate the guy, but I think his numbers the last half of last year and so far this season warrant a decent deal.

I love how you seem to know he will revert back though...is it possible he was just immature up until now? I mean he is barely of age to drink and yet apparently you know he has no shot to ever change his attitude...pardon me if I am skeptical :D

On the other side of the coin, you seem so sure he's going to succeed.

I haven't hated delmon for most of the year. His previous years surely warranted it. Not this year. He's been very good. Exceeding my expectations.

I have no idea if he will or wont...I just wont give up on a kid at 24 like most of the "experts" in this town will. He is doing better at that age than a lot of the guys who are currently playing and got all sorts of slack, so I think he should.

I also dont expect much of him...if he can bat .280 and hit 20 homers the next couple years that would be fine by me. He isnt a superstar, and I dont think he ever will be but if he can be what Cuddy is that works for me just fine :)

See what I am saying?

Absolutely not. We have a division winner here.

But a team that not gonna win the world series, we have no pitching. our starting rotation minus Liriano and Pavano suck really back.

Baker suck, Blackburn suck, Slowey is up and down.

We need to make a move now, we need Cliff Lee asap. problem solved.

Just need him for my fantasy team this year.

He's my fifth outfielder but I've been using him a lot lately since Wells and Victorino are so streaky.

World Series, homeboy.

I'd totally support a Denard-type deal for Delmon. His offense and defense are both significantly improved this season, and he appears to have figured it out. Given the fact he's about to enter his prime, I'd say a 4-5 year deal is well worth the risk.

I'm with Handy on this. I think Delmon is better than he's shown prior to the midway part of last season and he's finally coming into his own.

Yeah cause that is is even remotely what people are saying...

To say he has been a disappointment this year though so far isn't a stretch, he has lost all the power, his average is way down, his RBIs arent exactly great and he is third in the league in DPs. The numbers are fine normally, but this is the guy that pretty much everyone in St. Paul had walking in to the Hall next week and is making so much money he could fund another round of TARP by himself. If you sign that deal and your average drops 50 points criticism is warranted :p

.365, IIRC. Do you know how HIGH that avg is? You can't base expectations on that. You just can't. I'm not saying he shouldn't be hitting 320/330, but if he dips below 310, people are in hysterics, and that's just wrong.

Of course it's short term, and I believe he'll end up at the 320 range, which is very good. The knee jerk reactions of fans is what bothers me.

This.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

He had a career year last season. Expecting 20 HR / .365 avg / .400+ OBP from him every season is nutso.

If the worst he can do is a .375 OBP, he's a long way from disappointing.
