Sox are not going to win tonight. Inge just crushed a 3 run shot. 9-1 Tigers in the 8th.

Hopefully this is a sign of a return to ealier season form, although I do realize it's KC.

If he stays at around .300 and knocks in 100 RBIs and 20 HRs (not to mention his many doubles) that is good enough for me. It will also get him a nice contract come the offseason :D

True. I didn't really expect him to go .330/40/130 but the last few weeks have been a bit of a let down because I've always felt he was better than what his critics whine about.

Good lord, Thome hit the **** out of that.

It's a shame he isn't healthy enough to play every day - his SLG is ridiculous.

452 feet...are you kidding me?

He is just outstanding :)

I so badly wanted the Twins to get him when he left (Cleveland?) when I think his price wasn't outrageous but out of the range of the Twins at the time. He's always been a class act and a solid contributor. Hindsight of course but I don't think all of the playoff disappointments would have ended so badly had they had Thome.

The only real benefit of the DH is to see guys like Thome (and Oliva back in the day) swing the bat.

Just wow.

He also would have addressed a need - the Twins had **** in the DH role for years.

Thome is so awesome that there aren't words to describe how awesome he is. :p

And apparently, according to Dick, he now has the 4 longest home runs hit at Target Field.

I still dont think Neshek will ever be an effective relief pitcher in the majors ever again...but I hope I am wrong.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: Part IV - Thome's Quest for 600

Only 4 behind New York for home field. Obviously there is still a division to win, but if they keep up this torrid pace, it's certainely possible. Incredibly impressive considering we were going nowhere at the ASB.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: Part IV - Thome's Quest for 600

Regardless of how jerkwad his comment is, it doesn't make him wrong. I hope the team finds a way to turn that around, and am not yet convinced that this team will do it. Only way to find out is see them play one another again.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: Part IV - Thome's Quest for 600

This qualifies as a good year for the Twins vs. the Yanks. We're not 0-fer. They haven't even swept a series from us yet.
