Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Hill Murray wrestles the Championship Belt from the clutches of the West Metro and returns it to it's rightful location in the East Metro!

:D

See that grin there...appropriately GREEN.

:p

Ah, how quickly they switch when their real favorite team is down...;)

Seriously, the better team won tonight - congrats to the Pioneers.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Not that I know, but as a sophomore, it wouldn't be unusual to still be uncommitted.

For now....I know freshman girls getting offers from top hockey schools/programs. It is getting earlier and earlier....
Flipping through the photo gallery mostly from the title game. Look closely and you may see some commitment info for a current Hill Murray sophomore.

Drum roll please...
Have now read it's Sydney Baldwin as your 2014 Ms. Hockey. Have no official confirmation but I'll go out on a limb and offer my congratulations to Miss Baldwin!

A defenseman!

Congrats to all finalists!

LPH article (http://www.letsplayhockey.com/) confirms that it is indeed Sydney.
Tradition is good. I like tradition. :)

Watched a lot of both the A and AA competition in the championship brackets at the X. I think I was impressed as I've ever been with the skills...across all the teams competing in this tournament. Quite a few 7th, 8th and 9th graders...and these young kids can really play. Very impressed with the skating / speed, puck movement skills, but probably the shooting skills was most impressive to me. Many of these kids can really shoot the puck.

...and Hill Murray I thought one of the best teams I've seen in MSHSL hockey. Great D group. These Pioneers pretty much manhandled an outstanding BSM team.

Totally agree on HM!

I agree a number of young impact players. The game needs to continue to evolve and this year showed a brighter future based on the talent showcased at the X!

While we're anxiously awaiting the NCAA's announcement of the quarterfinal pairings, here is some comic relief for y'all. From the recently concluded Minnesota State High School BOY's tournament, the prestigious:

I can catch a little before watching the Gophers and Huskies go.

Okay...it was tough to watch for it's "quality" of play. I managed to tolerate one period. Mystery to me why the sport in Wisconsin seems largely void of the kind of improvement seen in Minnesota since becoming a varsity sport. I could understand slower progress I guess...but not this slow. What's behind an apparent "stagnant" factor per the development of the sport in Wisconsin within the realm of high school athletics? Wisconsin high school teams I've seen don't appear to be very well coached, trained or conditioned. Lack of interest / participation? Is hoops the preferred game for high school girls in Wisconsin during the winter months?
