Minnesota at Denver Feb 10 & 11

Re: Minnesota at Denver Feb 10 & 11

That's BS. I've seen worse things done that have gotten nothing. I better be seeing game suspensions being handed out like candy the rest of the year now.

As I said on GPL if the WCHA is actually going to start cracking down on (dangerous hits/dumb plays/moronic acts) they need to start somewhere, the key will be consistent enforcement going forward.

If the next knucklehead doesn't receive a similar penalty I will be (retroactively) POed. :)

Yep.

He did one of the things that I hate in the game today "finishing his check" aka - late hit. It is almost NEVER called, and it should be.

The hit to the head deserved the 5 and game, the lateness of it deserved the extra game. A skater of Kyle's ability could have avoided the hit easily and he didn't.

Gotta agree with this...if it's good for one (which it was) then it's -- or should be -- good for another...

I hear this statement often - "finishing his check" - but in many contexts it's incorrect. "Finishing" necessitates that the check was being "started" in a legal fashion. Rau was halfway across the ice when Zuck dished the puck, making it impossible to initiate a legal hit. If you're within reach of a player, or close to it, while the player has the puck , then a check can be started and finished within the gray areas of the rule book.

To say nothing of the charging/boarding/head contact aspects, I just hate the "finishing the check" phrase.

There is not a chance in hell that the WCHA is going to be consistant on this.

Minnesota need to come out and take better care of the puck tonight.
Last night was a giant step backward from the improvement we have seen the past few weeks in the turnover department and the defensive side of the game.

Hopefully Patterson can stand a bit taller tonight as well.

I'll go ahead and say the week off hurt the Gophers' ability last night to mentally prepare for a big game. That excuse isn't going to hold much water tonight.
MN need 2 pts this game.

Couldn't be happier about this weekend. (Actually, I guess Zucker being back on the ice would make me even happier.)

I will say good on DU. They took it to us. When that line was drawn, you said "F that" and crossed it, and owned us. You wanted it more. Congrats on the sweep.

This loss was tough, up 3-2 with under 2 minutes to go and then take a penalty, give up the lead on a PP goal and lose in OT. Ouch

Grats to Denver on the sweep, was an entertaining series maybe we can meet again this year.

Thanks Man. Gophs outplayed us for most of the game tonight. Classic battle. Our PP sucked for most of the weekend but we got a big one in the end. We hung tight and when you do that anything can happen. I think the difference was the Gophs ran out of fuel at about the mid point of the third. Brent, thanks for being classy after the hit last night. Good luck the rest of the way with the Beaves, UNO and Badgers. You guys are fast and talented. High chance we'll meet again in the State of Hockey.

I may be full of tArrogance, but I'm not an ahole. I will be a man about a loss, and feel shame. I just hope MN has something to celebrate come March or more importantly April.

What a surprise. Gophers **** the bed in Denver.
They generally had the edge in play against them tonight but made costly errors of the undisciplined variety which led to powerplays and goals against.

Just have to add this weekend to the long list of bad weekends for them in Denver. I don't recall the last good series they played out there.

Given how teams are playing of late, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Denver ends up winning the league title.
