Re: Michigan Tech '11-'12 Season Thread I: Hope Springs Eternal

I'm sure wmu is good though I am not a fan of any of the bhhc teams. Still you have to give them profs as they beat a tough nmu team. I went to the u of m vs ferris game on thursday and U of m is the real deal as well.

I think the schedule has been beneficial thus far and we'll see going forward. Winning in alaska will be key imho.

Also I have a question for the mel show but Dirk only stated the e mail address last week, anyone remember what it was?

I'd try sending it To WKMJ. I'm sure the station has an email address. If not call the station. Or you could just email Mel with the question.

They're fixing that, too. Apparently Detroit's waiving Brunnstrom. The two names that keep coming up as to who they'd bring up from GR are Nyqvist and some... Connor fellow.
I was surprised at them keeping him on, Brunnstrom is big and fast but not quick. Hopefully Conner get's the call. I think he'd be great with the third line.
I want to add a public thank you to Wes and the staff. The additional video of the team, even if it takes a long time to load and is cumbersome at times, is greatly appreciated.

It's been a few years since I've been active on USCHO...it's been tough, as a lifelong Huskies fan (grew up in Western UP, graduated from "the Tech", now very involved in alumni association, thousands of miles away), and this year's team is definitely giving us something to believe in. I'm glad that fans are being realistic about expectations, and understand that this team will definitely face growing pains and challenges, especially on the road, as several recent posts have noted. To give some of you an idea of the level of frustration...my dad started taking me to Huskies games in 1982, the year AFTER the final NCAA tournament appearance...so in ~30 seasons, I've enjoyed *3* winning teams (plus 2 that finished exactly .500), no GLI titles, no WCHA titles, and no NCAA tournament appearances! My point being: this is EXCITING, there is some young talent on this squad, and everything so far is very encouraging! Let's just all be sure to continue our support through the thick and (inevitable) thin! GO YOUSE HUSKIES! :-)

could be a brother, its hard to keep up, I meant he pietilas can't even narrow it down to 2 pronunciations.
Do you think they have arguments about pronunciation at the family reuni....I mean the UP state fair?

I don't understand why Dirk and Randy don't pick a pronunciation and stick with it for both. What is going to happen when the third one starts playing?

pa - till - uh for Blake?
pee - et - uh - luh for Aaron?
pee - da - luh for Chad?

Now it sounds like there is a 4th in the wings or am I understanding the post wrong?

I didn't think my hint could be any clearer; but I don't know if that's who JSR was talking about.
Tech came in at #18 in the inch power rankings. I'd guess they'll be ranked somewhere similar.

Don't you think we just should decide for them? Aaron and Chad are very similar, no "D" in the name just the type of sound for the "T".

no, although there was a fourth that did attempt to walk on this year, the recruit in question plays for compuware and HAD a relative on the team.

JSR must be talking about a different recruit being in town. Compuware was in a different winter wonderland this weekend and according to my source (former local) the recruit was there.

Don't look now, but all 3 Yooper teams are currently ranked. Has it ever happened before? (in the time that the USCHO poll has existed)

Not ranked high enough in my opinion. I have Tech at #7.

probably not, but I bet back in the day when Bob Olson's WMPL radio poll was the only one in existence, it might have happened. He used to call every coach in the country every week to tally it up.

That's the right kid; I must have gotten the visit time wrong.
