Dorrito has a cousin? Awesome!
Wait, where did Doriott go? He was only a junior last year right? Did he transfer, get injured or did he not make the team? I know he wasn't a great player but still weird to see him gone before his 4 years are up.

He was one of the cuts after the exhibition game.

Stephen Anderson tweeted that a goalie recruit was in town for a visit. Here is my short list of who I hope it is:
Ryan McKay (Green Bay-USHL)
Sean Maguire (Powell River-BCHL)
John Keeney (Muskegon-USHL)
Jackson Tiechroeb (Lincoln-USHL)
Mitch Gillam (Chilliwack-BCHL)
Jamie Phillips (Powell River-BCHL)
Billy Faust (Nanaimo-BCHL)

I believe you missed one shirtless. but I can't remember his name, lives in Wisconsin now though.

I don't have Tech in the top 10. I want to see them against umd and minnesota both of whom I think are better to be honest. You could pluck 4 or 5 teams from the WCHA and make a case for them as well. Though sure we played really well this week.
Like HF says, one game at a time. The polls are meaningless anyway.

Tanner Kero's little brother Devin is an incredibly talented goalie who is rostered with the AAA team in Marquette this fall. Not sure if he's getting any playing time, or is planning to come back to play for Hancock next month, but I'd like to point out that the kid has loads of talent and I hope he gets good coaching over the next couple years.

ok, found his stats: 1.83 GAA, .933 SV% in about 10 games.

I see the athletic department made a new facebook page just for the Michiagn Tech Hockey team.

Tonight they posted an advertisement for Fridays game, it's supposed to be a black out. People that dress in black can win some prizes.

McKay is on the NCAA team tab for Heisenberg. I just need to cross reference...certainly don't feel like looking at multiple sites to make my lists! If only the ushl could be like the bchl with the little committed icon next to a player's name.

The only reason Tech is as high as 16 at this point is that the pollsters are anchored to the idea that Denver is a top 10 team. Denver is good and they have talent, but I don't think it's top 10 at this point. That's the problem with polls. They don't mean anything, but they provide bias. Thankfully, there's the pairwise. Having said that, I don't see Tech finishing above 20-25 in the PWR at this point. They have a comparatively weaker schedule this year than in the past, both in conference and out. They'll have to do really well against top opponents to overcome SOS.

there will be a Blue Line luncheon this Friday at 12 noon in the SDC - not in the hockey offices area, but the new location near University Images.

A few good players on that AAA team.

yeah, I heard they're doing well. If they don't come back, Cal hockey won't be nearly as fun to watch this year. (Last fall they played for the now-defunct Baraga team, but came back for HS season)

Re: Michigan Tech '11-'12 Season Thread I: Hope Springs Eternal

From the Denver thread...
Well, the tournament if the season ended today would be...

#1 Merrimack vs. #14 Connecticut
#8 Boston College vs. #11 Michigan

#2 Dartmouth vs. #13 Michigan Tech
#7 Western Michigan vs. #10 Quinnipiac

#3 Minnesota vs. #16 Northern Michigan
#6 Notre Dame vs. #9 Brown

#4 Colorado College vs. #15 Ferris State
#5 LSSU vs. #12 Ohio State
six MI teams in the tourney; 4 WCCHA teams; 3 yooper teams.
