Re: Michigan Tech '11-'12 Season Thread I: Hope Springs Eternal

Sweep Mankato next weekend and I'll be sold. They still have to learn how to win some road games, but there will be plenty of chances to start figuring that out soon enough. After the Purple Mavs travel to Houghton next weekend, 7 of the next 9 will be on the road, and then the big stage in Detroit. With continued luck and hard work, I think they can be .500 or slightly better by the time the GLI rolls around, though the schedule will not do us any favors. Back-to-back roadtrips to Anchorage and Canton, then Duluth at home and an improved Gophers team on the road, and eNeMa U in Marquette.

I'm with you. It really needs to be a sweep next weekend. Get to 7-2-1 and be in very good position to come into the GLI with a very respectable record.

one game at a time guys. we are coming off a losing addiction, we must take it one game at a time.

Re: Michigan Tech '11-'12 Season Thread I: Hope Springs Eternal

Speaking of winning, I was last nights game between Western and Northern. Very nice game by the Broncos.
I'm sure wmu is good though I am not a fan of any of the bhhc teams. Still you have to give them profs as they beat a tough nmu team. I went to the u of m vs ferris game on thursday and U of m is the real deal as well.

I think the schedule has been beneficial thus far and we'll see going forward. Winning in alaska will be key imho.

Also I have a question for the mel show but Dirk only stated the e mail address last week, anyone remember what it was?

Wonderful weekend for Michigan Tech hockey. The highlight for me was seeing Mel say he was dissapppinted with Friday's performance. Certainly a different attitude in the locker room. I'm enjoying this while it lasts. Hopefully MacInnes continues to be a tough place for road teams to get points!

Re: Michigan Tech '11-'12 Season Thread I: Hope Springs Eternal

I'm still confused as to what is happening. The Huskies have a better record than...... the Red Wings?!

5-2-1 > 5-4

They're fixing that, too. Apparently Detroit's waiving Brunnstrom. The two names that keep coming up as to who they'd bring up from GR are Nyqvist and some... Connor fellow.

Yeah, that comment took me by surprise as well after a 7-2 win :) The attitude is great, I'm just ****ed they had to wait until I had moved away to start this ****! ;)

Fixed. MEg will kick you in the shins for that if she ever sees you. :p

Re: Michigan Tech '11-'12 Season Thread I: Hope Springs Eternal

I'm disappointed that Twitch hasn't made any comments about Buckentine's prediction being off for the MTU-DU series. Sad.

Oh and... 'nick: Your shins are MINE the next time I see you!

Conner, people. ConnEr. It is not that hard!

And the Red Wings are dumb in the first place for not having him play up. Until they make the right decision and bring him up, I'm rooting against the crappy Red Wings.

Congratulations on a great result over the weekend.

Best of luck the rest of the season.

Re: Michigan Tech '11-'12 Season Thread I: Hope Springs Eternal

I didn't get to follow the games much this weekend, I was busy, but got regular updates from SG and others. 3 points from that team is a good weekend, though the sweep would have been nice. I'm actually looking forward to getting to see them play in person, but probably won't be able to until the second half.

I never hard Dirk say the email address, just that he was answering a question from an emailer.

One note from the the Mel Perason show from 10-24 that I don't think I saw on the boards is Mel said he wanted a 2 year commitment from Steve Shields and he's sure Steve will have opportunites in a couple years. So it sounds like Steve will be here more than just this year.
