Merrimack College 2011-2012 Season Thread - vita post Da Costa

Not arguing with you irishneednotapply. Simply stating that I belive that is how it will be run. Time will tell.

Didn't you say 90%? how many games do they play? Roughly 30?
Cannata playing every game except army, uconn, and UAH would be right around 90%.

Yes, it only caught my attention when someone talked about sitting both games in one weekend. One of JC's best games ever and best ever by an MC goalie was his first vs Army. I am sure coach Riley would love to see him get the night off.....
To get ready for pro hockey, he needs to play and Dennehy knows that. Loyalty is a 2 way street and in this case it has been perfect, look for that to continue. 90% is the minimum I guess he will play

I never suggested he sit both games in a weekend. I suggested he play against NU then Tirronen/Marotta start against UCONN. I think Marotta should have started one of the two games in Nashville last year. I've gone to a ton of Merrimack games each season for over 20 years now. Joe is an awesome goalie, but down the stretch he made some mental mistakes, his focus was not there. A little rest and I think we'll see a top notch Joe in March when we need him most.

the end result you suggest is what we both want to see...

(At risk of stepping straight into the middle of a category 9 ****storm..) I agree that it would be nice to have Joe fresher down the stretch for the meat of the schedule which is in February, and hopefully the playoffs and NCAA's. I've been impressed with Marotta in his small sample size (1.13, 60/62, .968) and Tironnen.. well, he's a Tall Skinny Finn, so he must be good right?

Either way I fully trust Dennehy to manage the situation.

As one of the primary penalty killer's, JC would also benefit a great deal if the Warrior's can reduce the amount of time they play short handed. Nine penalties in Maine last weekend is almost a period of hockey playing 4 on 5. In my opinion, this is key to the team's success this year.

Just had lunch @ 99 with some big donors who intimated that one of the current HE teams may well be gone by the time ND joins.
No, it's not us.

Given this era of posterity, maybe one of the umasses? Unless you think it's someone jumping conference. Shame to hear..

Any predictions on how the Warriors will do against Northeastern? They started with a tie against UMass, lost against Maine, and then thumped New Hampshire. I am sure they will be hungry to continue winning. Will the Warriors be ready?

NU expects to win at Lawler on Friday night. Will the Warriors prevail?

not if Merrimack, especially Bigos spends their night in the sin bin.

I agree. IMO, the special teams will be the difference, as usual, and so far I am not impressed with the PP. Seem to be repeating last year's failed experiment with too many Rookies. Hopefully, will not struggle with the #2 PP unit for over half the season like last year. At least the #1 PP unit was fairly solid early last year, not the case this year. Also, MC can not rely on the PK to save the day, NU will eat them alive. I expect to see another low scoring battle to the finish; should be a good game.
