Re: Merrimack College 2011-2012 Season Thread - vita post Da Costa
Since there was no Lowell game this weekend, I was at the Merrimack game on Friday. I'll tell you what I saw was scary and appeared that Merrimack (as of now) hasn't missed DaCosta one bit.
-- Really impressed with that young freshmen defensivemen, Dan Kolomatis. He made several quality plays throughout the evening, including a fine play to bail out his teammate at the 9:00 minute mark in the first as well as a key block on a 3-1 later in the game.
-- Merrimack may have gotten away with a penalty before they put in their second goal of the game but there were some interesting no-calls on either side.
-- Don't know if Merrimack's PP is that good, NU's PK is that bad, or a combination of both. For the most part, Merrimack did anything they wanted to do on the PP.
-- The goals by Collins and Bigos were sniper quality. When Collins hit the post in the third, that would be been a highlight reel goal if it went into the net.
-- Cannata really wasn't tested very much during the game. This was a team win in every sense of the word.
-- Rawlings was the only reason that Merrimack did not put up a snowman or greater.
-- Ludwig Karlsson for NU is a fine looking player and I'm sure we will be hearing from him over the course of the next few weeks across the league.
The Warriors will have another big test next weekend at UVM as they will probably be ranked in the top ten by this time tomorrow night. If they are able to take 3/4 or 4/4 in Vermont, they could be sitting pretty at the end of the first semester with the schedule they have.
