Merrimack College 2011-2012 Season Thread - vita post Da Costa

Re: Merrimack College 2011-2012 Season Thread - vita post Da Costa

BC is leaving for the ACCHC

And your Friday night matchup, The Eagles vs the Skating Seminoles!!!! Think they'd trot the totally white guy all painted up with a flaming spear on a horse onto the ice at their hockey games too?

I like Merrimack to play quite well against Northeastern. A lot of people are thinking Northeastern are going to win and are not sold on Merrimack. I like a 4-1 win tomorrow night and a game similar to the Army game on Saturday.

Special teams, particularily the PP, will be the difference, again. Hopefully MC has settled on some talent in this regard.

Nice weekend for the Warriors. 9GF and 1GA, good to pick up another HE win, and congrats to Marotta on the SO of UConn! Balanced scoring, strong D, and terrific goaltending.

I don't usually post much on the D1 side and would never have expected to be posting in the Merrimack thread but, they do exist, at least on the club level: Home of Florida State University Ice Hockey. It doesn't look like they are having a good season, including a loss to UF but with Northern Florida on the horizon that may change.

How bout Sam Marotta eh? Left some stuff out front, and failed to hold on to some pucks, but a shut out is a shut out.

Top 10 come Monday?

Since there was no Lowell game this weekend, I was at the Merrimack game on Friday. I'll tell you what I saw was scary and appeared that Merrimack (as of now) hasn't missed DaCosta one bit.

-- Really impressed with that young freshmen defensivemen, Dan Kolomatis. He made several quality plays throughout the evening, including a fine play to bail out his teammate at the 9:00 minute mark in the first as well as a key block on a 3-1 later in the game.

-- Merrimack may have gotten away with a penalty before they put in their second goal of the game but there were some interesting no-calls on either side.

-- Don't know if Merrimack's PP is that good, NU's PK is that bad, or a combination of both. For the most part, Merrimack did anything they wanted to do on the PP.

-- The goals by Collins and Bigos were sniper quality. When Collins hit the post in the third, that would be been a highlight reel goal if it went into the net.

-- Cannata really wasn't tested very much during the game. This was a team win in every sense of the word.

-- Rawlings was the only reason that Merrimack did not put up a snowman or greater.

-- Ludwig Karlsson for NU is a fine looking player and I'm sure we will be hearing from him over the course of the next few weeks across the league.

The Warriors will have another big test next weekend at UVM as they will probably be ranked in the top ten by this time tomorrow night. If they are able to take 3/4 or 4/4 in Vermont, they could be sitting pretty at the end of the first semester with the schedule they have.

Age doesn't bother me, and in any event he is young to college hockey. He has looked great so far.

Hey, bringing in older freshmen is good for attendance; the player's kids can come to the games! :D

If I'm not mistaken, I remember my junior year there being a basketball player at Merrimack who had a kid.... haha [who would attend games]
