I'll tell you one thing, I could care less about where I rank in polls during October, heck even in early January is too soon. See my 2001-2002 River Hawks when they were #3 in the national poll after the New Year's tourney and didn't make it into the NCAA's.
Here's what we know, Merrimack is a very fundamentally sound hockey team that has gotten off to a tremendous start. I don't even think the Merrimack "homer" fans would have expected a 6-0 start. After a very successful trips to Maine & Vermont (hard to do) the rest of their first semester schedule is very favorable. In reality, they have two true tests, the game @BU next week and the Union game in December. Otherwise, Merrimack has a pretty good run of teams that are not expected to contend for home ice this season. If they take care of business, this may only be a two to three loss team come Christmas.
