Re: Merrimack College 2011-2012 Season Thread - vita post Da Costa
A few thoughts on last night's game:
-Cisse and Coyle were both able to exert their will all game, they were clearly two of the players in the best shape on either team. Provided Coyle doesn't go pro early, they will be one incredible force for years to come at BU.
-I thought Madsen had an outstanding game - it may not have shown up in the scoresheet, but he was absolutely flying around the rink. On one play in particular, after an odd-man rush into the offensive zone - Madsen beat his BU counterpart up the ice to defend a potential odd man rush going the other way. There may not be a more accountable defensive player in HEA.
-If memory serves me correctly, Merrimack has now taken a major penalty in three consecutive games. Physical play is of key importance anytime you take on a team like BU, but these 5x10 calls are being made much more regularly than in past years by HEA refs.
-Once again, stellar game by Joe Cannata, how he made the partial split save from a BU forward on the doorstep I'm not sure, but he was on a mission last night.
-With Mansfield and Toomey registering their first goals and points as Warriors - it gives MC even more scoring depth. SIXTEEN Warriors have goals on the year, pretty good for 22 eligible skaters...
-Last night Karl Stollery registered his 70th career point, putting him 20 points behind the D1 Warriors record set by Bryan Schmidt in 2006
-With win #79 at MC, Mark Dennehy passes Chris Serino on the all-time wins list (4th overall and 2nd in HEA wins)
