Long way from the days of Chief Wahoo(wherever he is) being the lone poster on this thread.
Oh whew....so I'm not alone remembering random slogans from old ad campaigns.
And while I'm not saying this will at all happen to you guys, remember, it is only November. Pretty heady stuff for your school and well deserved. Just keep in mind there is a lot of hockey still to be played.
Polls mean nothing. We've played a cupcake schedule. Did any Merrimack fan ever think we'd see the day where we got more first place votes in the poll than anyone else? I certainly didn't. I always hoped to see MC be 5-7th in the league with a competitive team. Never in my wildest imagination did I think MC would be #2 in the national polls. Truly incredible. And yes I realize the polls mean squat. I will be disappointed with anything short of another home ice, return to Garden and NCAAs.
about 4 or 5 years ago, Dennehy told me he was building a national powerhouse... not hoping to, doing it.
I wished him well, and without telling him... I did not believe it.
all through the Anderson and Serino years, I sat wearing my home white jersey next to the guy with the Tony Johnson home jersey, the guy from India and the guy with the cow bell...it was us and a guy with a bass drum across the ice and (seemingly) nobody else. (except when Maine came to town and the three faithful called me the turncoat when I put on Maine blue, still sat with them and cheered for Maine in ALfond-South)
Now the place is packed and there will never be an Alfond South in NAndover ever again.... all kidding and trolling aside, this brings a tear to my eye... what a great job Mark has done!
This is so awesome that Merrimack has the most first place votes in the country. The only reason they are not #1 is because of the strength of schedule. According to KRACH Merrimack has the 50th toughest schedule in the country. I hope the long lay off does not hurt them and that they come out strong against UAH.
I am concerned that the lay off between HE games could impact MC's momentum. The Warriors will be hitting the road to meet Providence, who will be looking to move on top of MC in the standings. PC will be travelling back from their visit to Denver where the thinner air will test their conditioning. I would expect a boost in performance once back on home turf. Hopefully the Warriors will continue to prepare and not take Providence lightly as the 4 points up for grabs could translate to a difference in Home ice advantage come playoff time.
I think being as experineced as they are that Merrimack will be up for PC.

The bass drum goes back a LONG way. My frat (NPK at the time, now PKT) were the keepers of the drum. We brought it to Ohio State in the '76-'77 season for the season openers, and made so much noise the 1st game that the OSU pep band showed up the next night to try and drown us out! Is it still being brought to games? Gotta get up to Lawler this year (although I'll get down to PC as that is much closer).....Also, I was roomies with the bass drum guy![]()

The drum has been absent over the last 2 years. It was around early 09-10 but hasn't been seen since. The last dedicated drummers graduated in '09.

Not the reason at all, actually up to this point our schedule has been tougher than Minnesota's! The reason is because our name is Merrimack, and Minnesota's is..well...Minnesota. And that's fine, that's the way it goes.
