Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

Pretty sure Aimee is younger. Delaney was on the 1998 Concordia CIS champ team (Inaugural CIS Womens hockey championship). She won another CIS championship with the Alberta Golden Bears in the mid 2000's. Delaney would have been in her later 20's by then, while Aimee was finishing up at the Hurst.

Thanks OnMAA. That is right. Aimee is younger.

Aimee played 2 years for Hurst and then 2 years for BSU.

The Collins family seems to have produced quite a few good players.....

Hursty or MIC - What's the word out of Erie on transfers? Speculation only - so no wagering - but rumbles out of the Motor City see one forward and maybe a D being thrown a lifeline from WS fiasco.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

I know Jill Szandzik from Wayne State will be on this team for her senior year. I know there might be a forward but don't know who or where from.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

Just got confirmed through facebook that Gina Buquet will be playing at the hurst next season.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

What is everyone's expectations for this season. The first game is only 2 weeks from now. Even though the first 2 weeks of the season don't count. What does everyone think the record will be and who will step up and lead this team in scoring. Also will the new goalie challenge Pattenden for the starting spot.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

Nice start for Mercyhurst's freshmen forward, Kristen Grenier! Scored a hattrick in pre-season game against Wilfrid Laurier in a 10-2 victory. Big Bram also with a hat, Baby Bram with one.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

Yea, the scrimmage against Wilfrid Laurier was entertaining and interesting. Weird not seeing a game with so many new faces. Baby Bram was skating hard all night. She is fun to watch, especially when she is out there with her sister.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

The players that are from Manitoba were the stars of that game. Gina Buquet played hard and she will be a good addition to this team.

Shelby Bram's nickname was a topic of much discussion. Here are some of the choices...

Baby Bram
Little Bram
Big Bram (Based on uniform number, as Shelby wears 31, and Baily wears 13)
Mini-Bram
Bramlet

None are particularly original. Maybe we should call Shelby "Marb", based on her number choice.

Other suggestions?

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

A nice game by the Lakers today as they beat Stoney Creek 6-0. Baby Bram continues to impress me. I also thought Cicero and Higson played hard as well. The Lakers will get even a better test tomorrow against the Toronto Aeros after there win over Colgate today. This is going to be such an interesting year with this group.
Also, I love the addition of Delany Collins to the coaching staff. I love her passion!!

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

Higson played well she just needs to get more confident and she'll be really good. Bestland really impressed as well as baby Bram. They were every where on the ice. I can't wait until Bailey Bram is back. It seems all the players that are from Manitoba are always where the puck is. Grenier is another player that is going to have a good season. Can't wait until next week when games actually count.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

What the h*** does it accomplish by playing only the #1 goalie in exhibition games vs two high school teams, when the score is already lopsided?

It proves only 1) lack of class 2) development opportunity for players means nothing, personal ego gratification and winning at all costs is what counts 3) team chemistry is gonna take a back seat

Some people just don't get it. smh

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

They've been playing all 3 goalies the for the previous games, but I guess Sisti wanted to get his starter a whole game to be ready for the season. Let's just see how this season pans out with the goalies. Pattenden gave up a very soft goal in today's game. Hopefully Quinnipiac will challenge this team next weekend.
