Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

No she said she's staying. I understand Barnes she was either scratched for games or she played on the 4th line which means she never saw action except when they were playing against bad teams. She gets to go to a team that she will get a fair chance to play and she can see her friends and family more often. The players have heard the rumor of Breann Frykas transferring to this team. I hope she does cause she's in the same situation as Barnes. She played on the 4th line and only saw action against teams that weren't that good. This is going to be a long summer waiting for what this team will look like come next season.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

Junior defense, Kyleigh Palmer, transfers home to the University of Manitoba....

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

As I said, Makela is very good. She was the #1 goalie for Team Canada U18 this year. Couldn't say if she is the best in N.A. in her age group as I have not seen the 2 Team US goalies. She has the advantage of size, and I would expect she still has alot of upside, as she really has not experienced regular high level competition yet, having come from Northern Ontario where she plays Midget AA rather than PWHL or JWHL.

Luczak represented Team Ontario at the Canada Winter Games and attended the Canada U18 camps. She is very solid defensively, and will be a good addition to the backline. She too has alot of upside, especially if she continues to work on improving her skating.

According to my sources, the 5'10" forward on the same team as Browne will unfortunately not be able to attend Mercyhurst after all, with continued Clearinghouse problems in her victory lap year. Too bad as she was one of the top scorers this year in the PWHL with a cannon for a shot.

That's unfortunate to hear. Has anyone heard of any other players coming in for this season. I know after Palmer and Barnes transferred there are spots open. Anybody know of what the schedule is going to look like. I know they are playing Yale, Cornell and Quinnipiac at home, but haven't seen anything else.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

It looks like after seeing other teams schedules they have home games against Quinnipiac, Yale, Cornell, St. Lawrence. They also play away against Providence. Anybody know when recruits and the rest of the schedule will be released. I'm really looking forward to next season, and can't wait to see how the new player's gel with the current player's. Who does everyone think will be the leading scorer.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

Things should be released in the next few weeks. Last year's schedule didn't get released until August 8. I sent a comment to Collins on her facebook just to see if it was true or not. She didn't say anything but she commented with smiley faces. I also talked to Dingeldein who people have said that she won't be coming but another facebook thing. I talked to her and she said she will. I'm looking forward to what this season will bring and wish it would come a little faster. SD do you go to the home games. I go to every single one and I'm the guy that has the camera around my neck hanging around where the players come out.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

She should help out a lot. I think it hurt the team last year not having Kristen Cameron there so having Paton should help out a lot. Now when will Delaney Collins get announced. These next few weeks I think a lot of news will be coming out.

Older cousin Aimee played for 'Hurst from 2002-04.
Pretty sure Aimee is younger. Delaney was on the 1998 Concordia CIS champ team (Inaugural CIS Womens hockey championship). She won another CIS championship with the Alberta Golden Bears in the mid 2000's. Delaney would have been in her later 20's by then, while Aimee was finishing up at the Hurst.
