Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

Yeah I wish they would of put the Manitoba b line (which is what I call it) together all year. Those three have been playing with each other for a long time. Who's going to be at the game tonight and tomorrow?

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

there is a tremendous amount of depth in the Mercyhurst team....yes the Bram sisters are standouts along with Bestland however, Cicero, LJ, JJ Steadman along with very talented Freshman class make for multiple line combinations on forward...Defense is strong all around and goal tending is strong with Hill or Ciampa able to step in against any team.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

What does everyone think of the games next weekend? Do you think they will win or lose but make it a close game. I need everyone to show up cause the louder it is the better this team will play.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

Does Mercyhurst provide video feeds for its home hockey games? Looking at the web site, it does not appear that it does.

Provided through America One. Link rotate with ticket purchase. You have to pay but it is a very good feed with a very good announcer (not HD though). I bought CHA 30 day package and can watch all CHA games live or archive (note syracuse and niagra not nearly as good feeds).

I'm on the mercyhurst page for America One. I don't see any mention of women's ice hockey. Can you send me a link? I'll be at Friday's game, but I'm hoping to watch satuday's game over the web.

Never mind. Found it. Thanks!

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

After this weekends performance that the lady lakers put on.. is it safe to say all the haters can shutup about the team? They proved yesterday and friday that they can play and are as good and if not better than any team out there. On paper Cornell should have dominated them.. but barely got the win friday (reffing was a factor in cornells win.. lucky if ask me) and saturday they dominated the big red in the second and third period and deserved the win. All the big players for the hurst came out to play, startin with pattenden, bram squared and bestland.. steadman an both jones girls played great as well.. was nice to see.. and if they play like that the rest of the year i think they can give anyone a good run. As for people saying bram only gets points against average teams.. well she put up 5 pts against cornell (something agosta couldnt even do last year) and 6 points against st lawrence last weekend.. what else does she have to do to prove she is amongst the best playerS?

I am not disagreeing with you that MC deserves respect.....going into the games, I didn't expect MC to be as strong as they were in past years, but in my opinion they proved to be the best team Cornell has faced this year. I think all the players you mentioned really stepped up. I was especially impressed with Steadman. Don't know if she's been on USAH radar or not buti think her size and play, she deserves some consideration.

Having said that I don't think Cornell's Friday night win was "lucky". Cornell fought back from 2-0 and 3-1 defecits. Pattendon was much more solid on Saturday than Friday. I think the ref-ing in both games for both teams was below sub standard. But the difference in the games was that on Saturday MC did what they needed to do to protect the lead and on Friday they didn't.

Two good teams, two good games -- looking forward to rematch in Ithaca!

Rubber game: Tues. Feb. 7 at 7pm at Lynah. Four hour drive on NY Hwy. 17. Any Laker fan worth their salt will be there or be square!!!

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

Personally.. I think Mercyhurst is stronger than they have been in previous years. Yes on paper it may not look like it, but this year i think all ego's have been checked at the door.. they have so much more pride in the team and are not just about stats and points.. this year i think they have a work ethic that we have not seen since the team started out in 1999.. I think personally the girls are sick and tired of people saying they cant do something and want to prove everyone wrong. It is nice to see, and like I said.. they dont have the big names they had last year - but they have something bigger than that which is pride, passion and heart, and we seen that during the games this weekend.
Remember.. names on paper dont mean anything - Cornell's whole roster was filled with Team canada hopefulls, while Mercyhurst's was filled with a a few big name players, but nothing like the big red - and they shoved it right back in their faces. Good for you girls - hopefully this is the start of something big for you ladies.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

What's with Hailey Browne not getting any ice? She was a force in the PWHL last year, Canadian u18 player whoi am told had a few good options. That can't bode well for future recruiting if they see a top Canadian recruit not even stepping on the ice.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

She's been stuck on the 4th line all season. I still haven't figured out why she isn't getting any ice time. I think this is one of the best games I have seen since I started watching and I've been to 80 straight games. I'm waiting to see how they play against Boston College. Who thinks they have a chance to sweep next weekend?

After the way they played last weekend, I think it would be a major letdown if they don't sweep.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

Well this is the last weekend where they play a top ranked team. After that its all conference play. They should be able to play as hard as they can. What will the rankings look like tomorrow?

Never under estimate non ranked teams...there will always be a rivalry in the CHA Conference...Robert Morris WILL be determined to have a "battle of the blades" with our Lady Lakers and Niagara cannot be counted out

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

Yeah Niagara seems to to always steal a win, but I think this team is to determined this season to not have that happen. The first game they play Robert Morris will be awesome cause it's going to see Paul Colontino face his former coach. I'm not to worried about Syracuse they seem to not be able to score.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

Mercyhurst up 5-0 over Lindenwood after two periods. Bailey Bram with 2 goals and 3 assists so far. Mercyhurst is rolling all their lines tonight keeping everyone fresh.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2011/2012

Mercyhurst wins 9-0. Congrats to Pattenden for becoming the All time winnings goalie in NCAA Div 1.

She could put that record up high enough that it will last for awhile. The only thing that works against her is that because the CHA is a small conference, the Lakers get only two CHA tournament games every year. A goalie like Rigsby at Wisconsin can possibly get four WCHA tournament wins per season.
