Re: Maine Off Season 2011

Thats the easiest question ever to answer...let's start with timmay(totally incompentent, clueless, worst coach ever) add to it 3 ADs who were useless(Tyler who hired him, Nero who whistle stopped in Orono and Blake who was the idiot who gave him an extension) and a President at UMaine who was afraid to let that weasel walk with a buyout or Man up and fire him the way it should be done!!! He has laready milked the university of way too much money for what he has done and cost them!!! How easy was that to answer. I get it all the time too when traveling, was at dinner last night in LA and met a UNH grad and he was saying how Maine just sucks and the sad part was he was completely right!!!! Thanks to mental midget timmay and Blake we have at least one more year of watching this turd draining the bowl before he gets flushed!!!
My Question to all...can Whitehead be bought out after next season or is the ONLY way out of his coaching/contract is by being fired..? Then how does the money factor work vs a Buy-Out..?

Re: Maine Off Season 2011

Yeah, great game, great venue, good time. Except for the speeding ticket those St. Paul bastids gave me. :) Imagine, 45 in a 30 and the sob wouldnt let me out of it.

Love the UMD team. Great heady, quick, smart forwards. Tuff D not afraid to put a lick on ya but could also lug the puck. Really, really loved the UMD team....and nice to see that phkn Michigan fight song finally go down in a heap. :D Most of all, the Xcel is a superb place to watch a big time event. Just great sight lines everywhere and even as we were up in the top, it was just a fun place to be.....lots and lots of UND fanz, but great people.

So, I wonder if Whitehead has manned up yet and taken a walk ?? Huh,huh ? They did a little piece on the jumbotron with the Maine-Minnesota final in 2002. Whitehead commented on Schuttes sshhhh......what a little kid moron Whitehead came across as, whereas Lucia came across as a class act.....I was embarrassed.

Wait.....Embassy Suites rocks....free full bore breakfast, free full bore drinks and appetizers at night. Unbeatable :D

One last, most important thing...it wuz great to be around such classy western fans.....no vulgarity, no derogatory bullchit you get from the easterners....I'm thinking thats one reason you see such a high proportion of Maine fanz even while they're in a down cycle at the frozen four. The westerners with their history get what college hawkey is all about, well except for the Michigan drones. :D

Here are videos of Jeff Dimmen's and Mike Banwell's first fights in the pro ranks. This must have built up over the past 4 years of playing for a coach who wouldn't let them hit, let alone get in a scuffle here and there.

Jeff Dimmen vs. Justin Soryal

Mike Banwell vs. Alex O'Neil

Hmmm...

Just IMO,but it kinda sucks to be reminded that these bush-leagues still exist. Not too far removed from "professional wrestling",really.

I went to an ECHL game a century ago, just to watch Maine's Gary Conn play.He was by far the best player on the ice,but the whole game was derailed by the sideshow fights that define low-minor pro hockey. If Conn-Man was drafted today, the NHL would have gotten smart enough (at last) to call him up.

As far as the modern era,I would have to say that House deserves better, and Banwell is in his natural environment.Best of luck to both of them.

Re: Maine Off Season 2011

Great article on Mike Lundin on Tampa's site.

And an article about first NHL playoffs for many Lightning players, with an awesome pic of Purcell, Lundin, and Stamkos after a goal.

I watch Tampa all the time, since they have three Bears on their roster.

Couldn't agree more with the writer about Mike;he's not showy at all,but he is a very smart player. If he stays healthy,he'll play into his late 30's/early 40's.The guy just understands the game.(He must have learned that in HS or something!)

you do realize that both fights occurred in ahl games... banwell is with the albany devils and dimmen with the pirates...

i get what you are saying, the echl, sphl, et al can certainly degrade into the sideshow you describe, but the ahl follows the nhl model much more closely...

No,I didn't...Looked so much like the ECHL,etc. that I failed to check my facts,as usual.Thanks.

I saw an ECHL game in the south - can't remember if it was Pensacola or New Orleans. Anyway - the fights were sponsored. It was actually kind of funny.

PA announcer, in best WWE voice: "And now . . . . it's time for another Reeegencyyy rrrrRRRRRumble!"

Nebraska -Omaha (2)
Clarkson @ Portland
@ Sucky Florida Tourney

Well,at least we're gonna have a game that counts in Portland next season.I'm going to buy a couple tickets for that one,and call ahead to make sure that Gritty's makes enough Black Fly to handle the increased demand.
