Re: Maine Off Season 2011

I wish someone would give Timmay a $500,000 handshake and kick his arse out of town!
I wish someone would simply kick his arse out of town.
it goes along with an expression used at chinese restaurants... bu shia, wei ching... if they didn't see it, it didn't happen.
Which they say right before picking the fillet of cat off of the floor.

Re: Maine Off Season 2011

Matt Duffy's tryout with the Pirates didn't last long. He was cut yesterday. Too bad - it would have been nice to have a local hero on the roster.

Re: Maine Off Season 2011

You know, after the game last night, I was gonna post something about how an underdog team, with a great coach and an excellent game plan, and a bunch of players who are determined, willing, mentally and physically tough, and will fight and give it their all every second until the final whistle sounds, can do amazing things on the ice, and beat teams they probably shouldn't.

And then I remembered that way way back in the cheerfully expectant days of the early season, this Maine team managed to take two from that very same North Dakota squad. Of course, that UND team has undoubtedly worked hard and made themselves a significantly better team than they were in those long ago days. And of course, that was still very early in the season, before TIMMAY's musk of fail had permeated throughout the entire team.

Oh, whatever happens to those Maine teams to turn them into the dreadful trainwreck we saw for most of the post-November season?

TW should have let their team dye their hair and grow playoff beards for a chance at a run............http://www.pressherald.com/blogs/lenzi/119498029.html

Sounds like 1999.

Re: Maine Off Season 2011

What a joke that Bunyon is a referee in the national championship game.

do you suppose it is sort of a gesture by Sheehy (the supervisor of officials for Hockey East, I think), and Frank Cole, an old HE ref and current NCAA supervisor... to honor jeff's departed father??? Ned passed during this past hockey season.
and from ALL accounts, Jeff is a super great guy, I have little understanding of his "judgment" (was that political enough???/ I'm pretty sure his kid and mine are gonna be team mates this coming fall)

anyone else remember the COle and Taylor days??? jezzzez what a pair they were... 2 refs, one whistle

Re: Maine Off Season 2011

Anyone but me notice how good UMD was at Passing the puck to a teammate last night. Unreal, tape to tape all night. The winning goal was a perfect example on how to win a hockey game. Michigans D was awesome all night but UMDs offensive skill proved to be too much. I remember when Maine had those skills:(

Yeah, and along with that I was watching Michigan and how they seemed to always be able to block pucks coming toward the net and clear them away into the corners and behind the net, and then work hard along the boards, sending them out to other teammates up higher, or indirect passes off the boards to a fellow teammate who was always in the right spot to pick it up. Their work down low and along the boards, and then on the breakout, even cycling in the offensive zone, was just amazing to watch.

Just hard work, knowing where you had to put the puck and where your teammate was gonna be, or what he was gonna do with the puck. Maine used to win those battles along the boards, too.

Plus, they were missing their best offensive player, and one of their top D. I'm sure Red Berenson made sure to point that out in the postgame conferences, and in all the newspapers.

Great championship game! Offense won out and defeated Michigan's defense as you pointed out. My thoughts as well. UMD was a team struggling down the stretch (4 - 5 - 3) to finish the season. Sounds familiar.:( The difference being they were able to make the tournament and then "right the ship".

so, you are saying that the Bulldogs KNOW whether the guy they are passing to is a righty or a leftie..
gosh, I will have to think of that when I coach the kids... let them know that passing to the forehand is a good idea.... never thought of that....
I wonder if this knowledge is a function of passing to their linemates a bazillion times in practice so that this knowledge is just second nature....

Re: Maine Off Season 2011

Just getting back from MN. Fun time and some real good games...awesome arena for hockey...and the same old/same old the last 4 years at The Frozen 4: Where's Maine..?..Whats going on at Maine..?..Maine isn't Maine anymore...painful to hear but the truth.

Yeah,I've been seeing that from UMD all season long. The way they work the puck around on the PP is beautiful to behold, even if they had an off-night in that regard in the title game yesterday.(I think UMD was 1 for 9,when a man-up yesterday.)

Not that anybody should remember, but I liked them and UNO as the two best teams in college hockey waaay back in December...And I'm so rarely right that I feel I must point that out.(UNO was screwed in that one, clearly!)

I'll give Timmy credit for one thing:his recent (4-year) lousy performance has forced me to appreciate the college game "as a whole" much more.I used to fixate on Maine all the time, but these days that is not a happy option. So I pay more attention to the game on a national level. :/

So,good for the Bulldogs winning their first, and especially at the expense of the old sourpuss,Red.(There is nothing wrong with being old,but you have to smile once in a while, fercrissakes!)

Thats the easiest question ever to answer...let's start with timmay(totally incompentent, clueless, worst coach ever) add to it 3 ADs who were useless(Tyler who hired him, Nero who whistle stopped in Orono and Blake who was the idiot who gave him an extension) and a President at UMaine who was afraid to let that weasel walk with a buyout or Man up and fire him the way it should be done!!! He has laready milked the university of way too much money for what he has done and cost them!!! How easy was that to answer. I get it all the time too when traveling, was at dinner last night in LA and met a UNH grad and he was saying how Maine just sucks and the sad part was he was completely right!!!! Thanks to mental midget timmay and Blake we have at least one more year of watching this turd draining the bowl before he gets flushed!!!

Re: Maine Off Season 2011

Here's an update on Tanner House and Josh VanDyk. Josh's season is over with the Abbotsford Heat as they failed to make the tournament. Tanner House (Oklahoma City Barons), had 2 assists and a +2 on Friday against the San Antonio Rampage in a 7-2 win. Saturday, against the Texas Stars, he had 1 assist and a +1 in a 2-0 win. The Barons also won on Sunday against the Houston Aeros 6 - 3. House didn't record any points in the win.

Re: Maine Off Season 2011

I was watching Detroit Chicago game yesterday.Saw Todd Bertuzzi crush a guy on the boards, bounce off and go to the dots take a pass and then put it right on Clearys stick who had an empty net. Great play set up by a physical play. So can anyone explain to me why Tim is against Checking and why he thinks it take you out of the play?
